The Fireworks Girls: Sam’s Story

I have been waiting for Sam’s story since I began this series! I was absolutely NOT disappointed!

nuclear heatThey call us the Firework Girls.

I’m Sam. Let’s get one thing straight. Marriage is fine for some people, but it’s got nothing to do with me. If you knew the truth about my past, believe me, you’d understand.

But hey, I’m not complaining. I’ve got a good job. Great friends. And when I need a little something in the man department, well… I’ve never had any trouble getting that when I want it either.

Then Jack has to come along and screw it all up.

I never saw it coming. I mean, we’ve been friends for six years. Years. But in one moment… one gooseflesh-inducing, world tilting, alarming moment… it all starts to change.

Let me tell you something, the last thing in the world I wanted to do was freaking fall in love. But that Jack snuck right under my radar.

I’m not too happy about it either.
Not one damn bit.

My Review 2I have been waiting for Sam’s story! I have been sitting on a hunch for quite some time now, and I am so eager to see if it plays out! Sam is a character I can heartily identify with, as her father had traits similar to mine, and her relationship worries resembled mine as well. She is so independent and opinionated! And I’m not ashamed to say that she is my favorite ❤

Jack has been there through it all. He’s been the best friend, the big brother, and the protector-but never the lover. After spending his time with women who aren’t quite made to last in a relationship, he’s finding there’s something to be said for having just …
someone. Unfortunately, he’s finding that those feelings developing aren’t being returned.

So much of this story begins on the basis of miscommunication because NOBODY JUST SAYS HOW THEY FEEL! Argh! It’s so aggravating to watch the characters go through their pain knowing they could prevent it! But it is so reminiscent of real life and how we are all afraid of saying too much.

As the story continued, I got a much better glimpse into Sam’s past. This is the part where I felt a bit was lacking. I wish this issue could have been more distinctly resolved. As a reader, I kind of assumed the general idea of what happened, but didn’t get to actually read it. It didn’t take much away from the story, though, and sometimes authors don’t choose to make the same choices I would. Overall, though, this was a fantastic story and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Back to McKenzie Ridge!

Ever since the first novel in this series, Rescued, was released I have been IMPATIENTLY waiting for Colton’s story. (Just so you know, he’s mine.) When I finally got the chance to read it, I was NOT disappointed!

If you missed out on the first novel in the series, check it out here.

HiddenWhat’s Hidden about?

Firefighter Colton Sparks is beautiful, brawny, and lonely.  A total man’s man with testosterone driven tendencies smothered in a tough guy exterior.

He’s every woman’s dream; they just aren’t his.  A die-hard romantic, Colton is looking for a Hallmark happily ever after, but finding Mrs. Right has been as fruitful as playing the lottery.  It’s no secret that he dreams of white picket fences, finding love, and having a family.  He has the white picket fence…he just needs her.

When a beautiful woman comes to town, he begins to wonder if he has finally found herMegan Johnson is stunning with a regal quality that doesn’t live in small mountain towns, and a mystery that has him intrigued.  She also happens to be his neighbor.

Megan thought McKenzie Ridge was the perfect place to settle…for now.  It was the polar opposite of the glamorous life she abruptly abandoned.  Small town living was anything but simple; it was damned hard!  Gone were her days of fancy make-up, and designer clothes.  Here were the days of flannel, fur lined boots, and becoming Megan Johnson.

As things start to heat up and fall into place with the handsome firefighter next door, her past flashes its depraved and wrathful face.  Can she stay in McKenzie and fight her demons, or will her secrets leave her alone and on the run?  Is there a happily ever after for Colton and Megan, or is love a deadly game of chance?

Jazmyne's ReviewSam decided to be the voice of reason on this one and offered her two cents, “Honey, he has waited his whole life for what he wants, he’ll wait for you if you need more time.

Ever since Rescued I have been intrigued (aka had a huge crush on) by Colton. Within the first 5 pages of Hidden I was IN LOVE. Colton is a man’s man, firefighter and protector, but he is also not afraid to wait for what he wants. “That was Colton Sparks, genuine to a fault, and a heart with more love to give than any one person deserved.” He actually reminds me a little of Deacon (Kristen Ashley), who alludes to the fact that a real man knows what he wants and waits until he finds it.

Megan lives next door to Colton and can sense the attraction that lies between them. Dealing with her own struggles, and raising a young boy, she doesn’t have time to sustain a relationship with any man. Especially a man like Colton. As their paths begin to cross, she finds herself in an odd friendship with him and his brood of animals.

What I enjoyed most about this book was the mix of romance, funny dialogue (bean dip!), mystery, and action. Although the book is centered around Colton & Megan, we get to see different sides to many of the characters introduced in Rescued, as well as solving the mystery integrated into Megan’s story.

The only real issue I had within the story was some of the action revolving around the mystery. That sounds vague, I know, but I don’t want to give a lot away. What I mean here is that some of the mystery seemed to resolve a little too quickly in some parts. This is, of course, more of a personal preference. The mystery, though, WAS resolved, and in a way that leads to new and promising storylines …

I honestly can’t wait for the next book because I need to know what happens between a couple of characters … you’ll know what I mean and you’ll be impatiently waiting too!

Billionaire Takes All: A Review

Billionaire Takes AllI just lost my half of five billion dollars.

Five. Billion. F*#king dollars.

The voicemail still chimed in my skull:

“Your father is dying. The inheritance is no longer yours or your brother’s. If you want that money, you’re going to have to play by some… unconventional rules.”

Rules? Screw that. I didn’t get this far by following anyone’s rules. But I did know one thing. If this was a competition between my brother and I for the entire King Family fortune…

I was going to win.

That’s probably exactly what my brother was saying right now, too. He and I hate each other, we have for years. We know hate, and we know what it means to compete.

What we didn’t know was how messed up these “rules” would be. You see, to get our inheritance, we’ve got to do something drastic.

Knock someone up.

That’s right. If I want my money, I’ve got to get a girl pregnant. One thing’s for sure, my sleepy town of Caldwell Hope is in for a rude awakening.

Lock up your wives, your girlfriends, your daughters–everyone is fair game when it comes to winning this damn contest.

The King brothers are coming home.
All hell’s about to break loose.

Jazmyne's Review

In this story we are introduced to two brothers, Lucas & Richard, who are now at odds to gain inheritance from their father. These two haven’t gotten along for a time, so now pitting them against each other means an even dirtier competition.

By returning to their hometown, both sons are now forced to face their pasts. For Lucas, this means seeing the first woman he loved and realizing that his life is nowhere near here he wants it. For Richard, it’s discovering who he is beyond the successful businessman.

This journey takes us into the past of the town and the characters, as well as giving us an in-depth look into how each of the characters develops. There are many secrets and when those are revealed we begin to understand why their lives have taken such a drastic pull from each other.

I loved the characters. They were complicated, unsure, and flawed. Each of the brothers made mistakes and had to face the consequences. Those consequences cost them time and relationships, forcing them to truly decide what they valued in life. Seeing their love for their father and how devoted they were was lovely.

There were some parts of the story that didn’t flow for me. I loved the concept behind the storyline, and even the complications thrown in, but it just seemed that sometimes issues were resolved rather quickly for me. I think the author had some great twists for the storyline and gave the characters a realness that many billionaire characters don’t always have.

A good read and some interesting characters.

Infinity: A Review

InfinityProfessional animal trainer, Carmen Rockwell, is happy living her life on the edge of society. She owns a high profile business that is run by her best friend, Lissy, the only person she thinks she needs in her life.

Because of an unusual gift, she is the best in the country at what she does. She goes away for work and finds herself suddenly drawn into a new world- one that she never knew existed and against her will, it follows her home, demanding that she enter into the life she was destined to live.

An important date is approaching fast, but will she turn away from this new world and hide or will she face her fate head on?

One man could make all the difference- but does he love her or is she only a means to an end?

Jazmyne's Review

The story begins with a somewhat vague description of a couple characters that have some unique qualities. We don’t get much history as to where they’re from or what their story is.

As the book progresses, we begin to understand what is going on and where these characters come from. Gabriel has been on earth for many more years than he looks, searching for his peace and future. Carmen has a special ability to speak to animals, but coming from the foster system, she has never gotten the chance to know her true parents or where the ability comes from.

I love stories like this! The characters have abilities because of an unknown, shared past. These characters not only share a past, but have an entwined future as well. As I was introduced to more characters, as well as their world, I felt more and more connected to the story. Although it’s based in fantasy, the characters are completely relatable.

Fantasy is always a great genre to read. There’s always something more fun about abilities and extra-ordinary experiences. It allows me to enter into a brand new world!

There were a few issues for me, but they were more personal preferences. Carmen’s attitude bothered me often, because even after she recognized that she was being mean, she seemed to not change. Also, some other personalities didn’t mesh well with me. Overall, though, an enjoyable read and I’m excited for the rest!

Why we don’t die in Dreams by Debbie Zello

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Why we don’t die in Dreams by Debbie Zello

Erotic Thriller

I give this book 5 stars!

Are you ready for some Mystery and Suspense? Because you need to get ready for what Deborra Zello had writen for us.

How about start reading a book in which the main character is a sexy as hell detective? Of course I’m the first in line. Only the mysterious and suspenseful beginning and both made me want to read without stopping.
“Why we do not die in Dreams” is a book from Debbie Zello that suspense lovers should read. Crime, suspense and the unknown are in great prominence in this book.
Debbie Zello has a complex writing, which due to the theme of this book fits completely. This is not an easy subject to write, is something that nobody wants to happen, but unfortunately may be just around the corner.
The whole book is very well written; the scenes are very well described and that makes us experience the scenes so much better.
In the midst of so much tragedy can be place for love? Will there be place for comedy? I found myself laughing at some scenes and terror in others. And let’s not forget the hot scenes, of course.
Gavin McLean is a homicide detective who loves his profession. He is involved in the murder of a young woman. He is haunted by a recurring nightmare that by mystery becomes reality. A lot happens and one thing I assure you, nothing is what it seems.
When this book was over I wondered to myself what the hell had happened, would I had read well? There have to be some missing pages?
I am extremely looking forward to the next book because I did not want that this story to ended like that. I wonder what will happen next, because being in this ignorance is a huge torture.
Debbie Zello you undoubtedly are the master of the art of suspense because you managed to leave me dumbfounded with what happened.

Restless (Relentless Series Book 2) by Alyson Reynolds

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Restless (Relentless Series Book 2) By Alyson Reynolds

Contemporary Romance

I give this book 4 stars!

If you are a beliver of true love then you all should read this book. Alyson Reynolds I loved it.

Let’s start another journey, another adventure, another wave of feelings that I know I will be reached, because if this book is like the first one it will promise …
It was with this thought when I started reading “Restless”, the second book in the” Relentless series” by Alyson Reynolds.
Anyone who has read Relentless knows that much was left to say, including the story involving Taylor and Stephen.
Alyson continues with a very nice and simple writing what makes us glued to the story, word by word.
Taylor is a young and carefree girl, with targets set for her life but she’s too afraid to relate and deliver herself to someone. What she wants is friends with benefits and one-night stands, because of her traumatic and abusive past is the only way she knows. When a relationship begins to develop, to get deeper she just runs away. Stephen is a famous actor. The best friend of Violet, the eldest sister of Taylor and he is in love with Taylor for quite some time and what frustrates him is that he cannot make Taylor admit her feelings for him. Can she overcome the traumas of the past?
The level of emotion and feeling of this book is very high, which makes us think the purpose of our lives. Is love so important? We should try to overcome our fears and look forward to happiness?
Restless is a roller coaster of emotions, some good and some not so good, but in the end can everything be solved? There were chapters in which I questioned why is this happening.
Alyson Reynolds I am addicted to your writing, the level of feeling that you evolve your stories is amazing, so I’m going to ask you for more books. More books to keep me awake until late at night and without no desire to go to sleep.
I rated this book with 4 bookworm stars.…/…/ref

Rock the City (Midnight Fate) (Volume 2) By Gia Riley

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Rock the City (Midnight Fate) (Volume2) by Gia Riley

Contemporary Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

Do you want to dream with sexy musicians, second chances and love stories? Grab your copy of this amazing book and prepare yourself to dream. Gia Riley thank you so much for this series

Is there a better way than to start reading a book and get addicted after reading only the prologue? With this beginning this book promises.
“Rock the City” is the second book of the series “The Midnight Fate Novel” and I have been waiting for so long that the expectation was very high because after reading “Rock the Boat” I was afraid that this book could not take a special place in my heart but I was so wrong, this story will leave you breathless.
Gia Riley has a simple and appealing way to write, the chapters are not too long and because the book toggle between two point of views from the main characters of this plot makes reading enjoyable and pleasurable.
This is the story of Lane and Noelle. Lane is the drummer of the band Midnight Fate, band that we get to know on the first book in this series. Lane is charismatic, carefree and obsessed with Noelle. He had a tragic childhood and his adolescence was also not a bed of roses, adolescence that he wants to forget because it hurts too much to remember and that is why he chooses not to talk about it.
Noelle is a hopeless romantic, a successful entrepreneur and her best friend is Lark, who is married to Easton, the lead singer of the band. Thanks to her, Lark and Easton met up and she longs to be able to live a fairy tale like them, despite the reservations that she can feel, because let’s be honest, who would not want to find their prince charming.
Will they be able to overcome these obstacles and be happy? Overcome their insecurities and uncertainties and surrender completely to love, a relationship the two?
This book gripped me from page one. The feeling, love, loss, family and happiness is in great emphasis in this book. There were parts that I laugh a lot, because the interaction between the cast was hilarious, but there were also parts where I wept and thrilled me. In contrast there were other parts where I needed to go take a very cold shower because the hot scenes were many and very intense, as we all like to read.
Overall this book is a wonderful story of love, acceptance, forgiveness and achievement. We all go through hard times in life, but how we deal with these setbacks is what defines us and all deserve a second chance in life.
I recommend “Rock the Boat” and “Rock the City” to all fans of music, love and happiness.
I give this book 5 bookworm stars…/…/1533257493/ref
