Book Review: Razing Grace

I was light, and I was pure. Until I wasn’t.
I’m Millie Hart, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve dedicated my life to my Catholic faith. It was a part of me every step of the way. So when I decided to join a nunnery, no one in my family was surprised. I’m not sure at what point my life changed or where it went extremely wrong. My nightmares are becoming realities as my world starts to slowly tremble under the ground I’m presently shackled to. I was taken. Everything I thought I knew was about to rain down on me in drops of lies, deceit, and undiluted evil.
I’m more machine than man. I’m the alpha and the omega of The Army, and the leader of The Sinister Six Masked Huntsmen. I live and bleed this life. The arms that raised me weren’t carrying love— they were carrying knives and AKAs. I’m agent 000, the executioner, and the damn devil who walks in the flesh. No one can break through my hard shell— not even her.
*This is book Three in The Devil’s Own series but can be read as a standalone.

adobe-spark-3I was introduced to the Devil’s Own Series a few months ago. I love motorcycle club books, so I took a chance. I fell in love. This series is gritty, raw, and presents so much complex human emotion. This is not a series for the weak-hearted, or even perhaps the weak-stomached.

In this installment, we delve more deeply into the life of Millie, Melissa’s sister. Millie has spent her life devoted to the Catholic faith, until the fateful day she is taken. So much happens to Millie during her captivity that her entire self is changed. She can no longer identify with the person she was, nor does she really know the person she is becoming.
This story is a pivotal installment in the story of Beast and Hella. The Army played a major role in both of their lives, shaping them into terrifyingly violent men. Upon finding their release from The Army, they found a group of men that accepted them and helped them find family. In Razing Grace, I found that there is so much more to EVERY person’s story than I’d even imagined before! There are twists and turns, intricate knots, and so much in their past that it was difficult to find my way through it all.
Overall, this story was a great addition to the series. I love how it explored all the different aspects of not only human relationships, but how the events of life can affect us so deeply. The characters were raw and imperfect, but presented some of the strongest bonds I’ve read.
Be cautioned, there is a significant amount of violence and events which may be questionable to most people’s sense of morality. The events work well into the story, and are appropriate in the context, but they may be difficult for some to handle.

New Release – Falling in Paris (Encounters Book 3) by Fifi Flowers

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Falling in Paris

I give this book 5 stars!

Happy release day Fifi Flowers

Wanna fall in love in the most romantic city in the world? Falling in Paris is out now so go and read it. Let love embrace you.

For years, bookstore owner, Émile Capet, lived his life simply… carefully guided by a family curse. Happy in his book world.
With the request for a certain rare book, he begins to question why someone would be fascinated by paved stones. How could they be considered romantic? To him, they were often dangerous. His conclusion is confirmed when he finds himself rescuing a beautiful woman sprawled out on a cobblestone sidewalk.
However, this emotionally guarded hero may change his opinion and his lifestyle once he gets to know the injured woman who just so happens to possess a special edition of the much sought after Romancing the Cobblestone book.

Avril Paulson, a book collector, owns an online book business which allows her to experience life as, what she calls, a book gypsy. She hasn’t lived in one location for several years, loving the thrill of new adventures. Staying at a client’s apartment in Paris, she finds herself being rescued by a gorgeous Frenchman after tumbling over cobblestones.
Ironically, the two begin an awkward dance of the unknown, contemplating the same question… Cobblestone: dangerous or romantic
Could it be that it is a little bit of both?

My Review:

When I started reading this book I thought to myself, will I like it? I thought the story would be similar to the ones that I had previously read and of course I was so so wrong. I loved it because it’s unique, it’s simply perfect. I love the way Fifi Flowers writes, I love the attention to detail she puts into each scene, I love the fact that I get to know other countries without having left my living room and love to feel that I am part of the story.
Falling in Paris is the second volume from the “Encounters” series and just like the first one its simply amazing.
This is the story of Émile and Avril, the whole book is switched between their point of views.
Avril is one that doesn’t want to commit to anything, loves to travel and loves to read.
She was abandoned by her mother when she was a baby but the love of her grandparents gave her strength to be the determined woman she is today
Émile is the womanizer, for him there is no place in his life for a relationship, he just have time for casual encounters, one night only hook ups.
All this is due to his grandfather and I say no more because otherwise I will reveal the story and that I do not do.
One day they meet and the story takes a completely different direction that they were waiting.
Can you feel a fatal and carnal attraction by a person you just met? Is the desire for real, or just lust?
The hot scenes in this book are exciting, engaging. Desire is visible in every word you read and will make you feel thing in a way that I can’t explain.
There were parts of the book  that I was so upset with the characters and i seriously wished I could enter the book and hit them.
Why is it that we only realized how much people are important to us when they go away?
Why is it that only we value love when we lost it?
I loved this book and I am looking forward to the next in this series.
Until then I leave you with this question:
Is there really a soul mate for each of us? Is there true love?

We’ve loved.

We’ve lost.

We’ve hated.

Our Empire is crumbling right before my eyes. No one can be trusted for reasons that are consuming me, controlling me and ripping me away from my family.

This new family who has taken over the streets of New York has taken someone away from us. We will not let them take anymore. The only way to stop them is to sacrifice one of us.

But who? They want to end me and my cousin, Calla.

I will never allow that to happen.

This is our EMPIRE. Our LIFE.

What it boils down to is… her life or mine.

The answer is MINE!

I’m perceived as weak, all because I’m a woman.

A woman on a mission now that they’ve stolen someone I love.

They have threatened my family, my child, my love.

I may be a woman but, I’m the daughter of a notorious killer.

They want to end me and my cousin, Roan.

I will never allow that to happen.

This is our EMPIRE. Our LIFE.

What it boils down to is… his life or mine.

The answer is MINE!

I’m loved.

I’m lost.

I hate.

“These people are ruthless, Calla. Are you sure you can handle it?” I told her as well as Alina and Anna the same thing I’m telling Roan. I’m extremely aware of how dangerous this situation is. I may not have had the displeasure of personally dealing with these wretched leaders who don’t play fair in our world; on the contrary, I will not tolerate any of them treating me any different because I have tits and a vagina. If it weren’t for women, they would be fucking each other over more than they do now. Welcome to the first episode of badassery and women power, you self-righteous dicks.

I’m a firm believer in women’s rights. I don’t care what men’s opinions are of us or what a woman is trying to accomplish. We are all equal. The only difference we have is, women use their brain the way we should, while most men use what hangs between their legs to do their bidding for them. And I can guarantee, these overbearing suckers have dicks that should be playing a role in Ripley’s Believe it or Not. Small dicks, small brains, and all that jazz.

I’ve been fighting round after round with Cain for weeks over this. The need to protect me I get. We have a daughter, is his argument. “Why do you feel the need to take on this role? You don’t have to, you know? One of us can.” It’s not that Cain wants this position. No. That’s not it at all. The man is scared of losing his wife. Of the things I will see, the things I may have to do. How I’ll react to being threatened. Will the same thing or worse happen to me like it did before? It’s not one bit funny, but the only way to shut that man up is to flash my tits and vagina in his face. Then fuck him until his cock—which isn’t small by any means—takes over his worried brain. Like I said, men. I love my man, though. These pissy, arrogant cock-suckers who will be calling a meeting at any time are the worthless pieces of shit. Except the Solokovs, who think in this century and treat everyone equally like we do, not like these fools who I’ve studied until my eyes were bleeding and could no longer make out their faces through my blurred vision. Most of them I haven’t met yet, and they already make me sick and make me want to hurl all over their expensive Armani suits. They could all learn a thing or two from a woman.

“Get to the point, Calla. You said we don’t have time to fuck around. Let me hear your theory.”

“You need to loosen up, Roan. You sound like Hitler, for god’s sake.” I salute him.

The tiny crack of a smile he had moments ago falls; in its place is the face of a man who’s suffered loss and hardship. This look on him is what I hate. I’ve been busting my ass to help him out here. Searching through tiny holes for any goddamn thing I could find.

What Cain and Roan don’t understand is the craving I have to protect them too. It’s my right. I may not have lived my entire life growing up in this environment of murder, drugs, stealing, and the latest, underground illegal fighting, but I’m no fool. I can play with fire, but I’m not allowing myself to get burned.

“I’m not afraid of those men, you know. I’m not afraid of you either. In fact, I just may be your biggest weapon. Remember that, Roan,” I seethe. Between him and Cain trying to scare the crap out of me, I’m ready to prove myself to them more than anyone else.

The sharp tongue, piss, and vinegar are all in my blood. Just like Roan, I will kill for my blood. I also know Roan. That man protects with his life, as do the rest of these men. He’s going to have someone on me at all times. Maybe even several men. What he fails to realize is, my dad will never allow anything to happen to me. He’s already volunteered to go where I go. People are scared to death of the unstoppable John Greer, and they should be. He’s killed and made more people disappear than I want to know about, but he’s my father, my protector, and even though I trust our friends and family, I trust him more. His eyes are everywhere, trained on point. I don’t want anything to happen to my dad. I do know he will refuse to let anyone take care of what’s his, especially after the hell I went through with Roan’s older brother, Royal; a man I didn’t know before he kidnapped me. Besides, both of them know my dad has trained me to shoot. I hope I remember how. I’m not invincible, none of us are. But I sure as hell will not lie down and let anyone trample all over me. Especially men who don’t respect me.

I’m sick and tired of this shit. Here we think everything is fine. Those people will stick with the rules. You stay in your territory, and I’ll stay in mine. Hell no, someone crossed over. Someone shot our loved one in cold blood.

My Review:

The mystery, suspense, twists and turns made me devour this book in no time and left me with such a book hangover! The feeling you get from the characters makes you feel like you are right there with them.
It was with much anticipation that I was expecting this book and Oh boy I was so not prepared for what I found. I thought I would have some suspense but what happened was something amazing and indescribable.
“Empire” is the fifth book of “The Syndicate Series” from the fantastic Kathy Coopmans and like the other books in this series this one is fantastic. Who ever read this series knows what I’m talking about, who didn’t read and don’t want to stay in ignorance I advise you to grab this opportunity to embark on a breakneck trip to the unexpected.
There’s only one thing you should bear in mind, the level of suspense and mystery are a constant as well as the love and the fantastic hot scenes that will spice up your reading.
I would like to tell you that you all should read the other books in this series because they are interlinked, even though all they are standalones there are always references to situations experienced in other books.
“Empire” takes place between the heirs of the Diamond Family Calla and Roan.
When they see their leader being brutally murdered their worlds collapse and they want revenge at any cost. In a world of crime is common to fight violence with more violence without looking behind.
To what extent are you willing to go for the ones you love? Is it wise to risk our lives for a revenge? Will it bring some relief, some peace of mind?
I’m amazed with this series. The suspense, the unknown were so intense that I was so nervous and I even fear for the lives of the main characters of this plot. But love, loyalty are also present in between the lines.
Kathy Coopmans you captivated me in a way that I yearn for your books to read. The level of emotion and suspense you put in each of these books was so high that I have no words to describe what’s going on in my soul.
Now I will embark on another series written by you and I know that I will not be disappointed.

New Release – Stark Shadows (Stark Trilogy Book 2) by CD Bradley

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Stark Shadows (Stark Trilogy Book 2)

Contemporary Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

Happy release day CD Bradley

It’s with so must joy that I announce the new release of this amazing book that no one should miss. If you are like me that love a story with suspense and some love to the mix Stark Shadow is your book. Grab it.

The butterfly effect: The theory in which one small action, seemingly innocent, can set in motion an entire chain of events with catastrophic results. When Kira Riley first collided with Owen Stark she never dreamed the path it would set her on. Separating herself from Stark she was determined to achieve her mission. No more distractions. But the wheels of fate have already begun to turn. Ghosts of the past have been awakened.
Before meeting Kira, Owen Stark had been dead inside. He had forgotten how to live and love. He tried to fill the void with anything and everything until he was just numb. From the first moment he crashed into Kira, the flesh and blood man knew there was no going back. She was the drug he must have. He knew he should have walked away. Now that he has crossed the line, he would stop at nothing to have her again.
A relentless journey but one that has started the dominoes falling in a way they could have never predicted. Sometimes the danger in the shadows is the darkness of your own desire.

To say that seeing the days go by were an agonizing wait will be short, just to let you understand what was on my mind just ask the author because I sent her so many messages that I lost count.
Those who have read the first book of this series Stark September, know the reason for my anxiety, who didn’t read I think you better grab the first book already because I can guarantee that you will love it.
CD Bradley has a very characteristic writing, focused on the details and the fact that the book written in 3rd person makes us get better in the plot. For lovers of a good military story this is your book.
“Stark Shadow” is the second book from the Stark Trilogy and continues to tell the stories of Kira and Stark and after the way the other book ended CD Bradley had a lot of explaining to do and a lot of questions to answer, but in the course of reading new questions arose and you can imagine what I was thinking …
The suspense, mystery, crime are well present but loyalty, love and sacrifice are also in great prominence. I wasn’t at all prepared for what happened and because of that my heart felt so heavy that I can’t describe what was on my mind and soul. The way this book ended left me devastated, left me speechless and very, very angry because I couldn’t the book was over.
CD Bradley please write the next book soon because I don’t have the energy to endure this agonizing wait.

Book Review: The Silent Waters

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday’s hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow’s promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice.

A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

(Book Three in the Elements Series. Complete Standalone.)

adobe-spark-3This series of books was one I discovered completely by accident, as it always seems my favorites have been. Each of these books has touched my heart, but each for a completely different reason.

I hesitate in adding too much in this review, only because I don’t want to delve too much into any part, as giving away too much would take away from the development that MAKES the story. This story was full of complexities, not only in characters, but in plot and twists of the story line. What made this book great for me was the believe-ability of the character’s experiences. Imperfect characters, with imperfections I can relate to, always pull me into the story. In this case, I felt so much for these characters. By the first chapter my heart was tied to each of them

I feel as though there are so many issues in this story which readers would relate to, even the ones they might not want to talk about. So often we hide within ourselves and never allow our full potential to come to the surface. The characters experienced this, in varying degrees. Each of them had something they weren’t willing to face that held them back, and by allowing themselves to live in the past, they damaged their future.

This is absolutely a must read. And if you haven’t read the others in the series, YOU MUST! They’re each a standalone, but the deep feeling carries over through each of the stories. Each book will touch your heart in a different way.

Book Review: Operation Fit-ish

book cover.jpgWhat’s a comic book nerd to do when she’s dumped by her not-quite-a-superhero fiancé just weeks before the wedding? Tempting as it is to drown her sorrows in ice-cream, Dakota decides that maybe she’ll keep that appointment with the personal trainer who was going to help her squeeze into her dress after all.

She soon realizes that while she’s not quite ready to ditch her Avengers T-shirt for a Spandex crop top just yet, being at the gym does have some perks. Like semi-stalking Zane, the cute blond guy who looks a lot like Thor…

But while Zane may not be a Norse god, he does have a secret. One that brings him closer to Dakota, and brings Dakota closer to danger.

Is Zane the superhero she’s been waiting for her whole life? Will he swoop in and save the day? Or is he the villain whose superpower is the ability to break her heart?

adobe-spark-3She seemed so straight-laced when I saw her the first time–but her new hair makes me think it might’ve been a cover for who she really is. Kind of like me. I’d liked holding her in my arms…to the point that it was dangerous. I was here to do a job.”

This book began with Dakota, a clumsy nerd attempting to get herself in shape, to become fit-ish if you will. She begins at a gym with a horrible trainer, but her focus is not on her trainer … Thor has just entered her vision. Not exactly Thor, but a Thor-like human with all of the best of his qualities. Now this was going to be a long month of exercising …

Thor, or Zane, is not exactly who he seems to be. Working out in the gym, Dakota is presented with the perfect opportunity to stalk, I mean get to know, this Avenger look-alike. While in the midst of this, it seems Zane takes a liking to our little Dakota, and thus things begin …

Throughout this whole story I was introduced to SO MANY awesome characters! This is a world I could find myself becoming immersed in. I wish I had a sister like Dakota’s, the friends that she surrounds herself with, and so many of the other characters that we get to know in this story. It is not often that I want to just jump into a story and live there, but I did here!

The story was good as well. There were well entwined tangles of intrigue throughout each character’s story. As we progress through this story, we learn so many secrets and even more secrets are still hidden below the surface. Many of the characters are so complex that we can’t even begin to scratch the surface of all that they are. I feel so connected to their stories and I’m hoping (*wink, wink*) that we get to explore more of the characters’ stories!

Overall this is a funny, interesting, and quick-moving story of intrigue, secrets, and ultimately finding someone who can be your superhero.

I’m a born and raised Texan. I moved to Denver, Colorado in 2003 and met the love of my life. After having our first son, we decided to get back to that small town feel and moved back home. We had our second son in 2011 and let me just say that those boys have my heart.

I’ve always been a hopeless romantic and I love a good “Happily Ever After” just as much as the next person. I’ve always had ideas for stories and loved to entertain my family with short stories growing up.

I love cooking, writing, and weekend DIY projects around the house.

Book Review: Honor

honor.jpgDon’t be fooled.

Don’t make excuses for me.

I am not a good man.

I’ve seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I’ve fought and I’ve survived. I’ve had to.

The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.

I’m here now, money is no object and I have no equal. Except for her. She’s disappeared. But don’t worry, I will find her and claim her. She will be mine.

Like I said, don’t be fooled. I am not the devil in disguise… I’m the one front and center.

Calmly and totally serious she told me, “You’re the opposite of a good man, Nassir, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t my man.” Her stormy eyes flashed at me. “You’re my man, and my devil … it depends on the day.”

This quote, for me, summed up my feelings about this book. Nassir was a man who came from a past most of us cannot imagine. He was faced with situations, choices, and experiences that, even in the greatest action movies of our time, could not be understood by those of us living (mostly) comfortable lives. His character was one of complexity and depth I hadn’t imagined it would be.

Within the first few pages of this book I knew that this was a story that would break into my heart. Nassir came from a mixture of cultures which created an inferno of hatred. Never quite committing to any one cause, Nassir became a force to be reckoned with. Everywhere he went He was the danger, the one who could not be beaten. Moving to the United States, Nassir created himself a new identity and set about carving out a new empire. Arriving in The Point, he knew that this was a place he could thrive. What he didn’t count on was a chance encounter at the local strip club.

Key has endured much in life and was living life the best she knew how. Stripping to make money was a job, but her skills at manipulation and seduction were her greatest assets. Meeting Nassir she feels the immediate attraction, but knows that he is so much more than simply another man. He has the power to tear her apart, physically and emotionally. When she finally makes her escape from The Point, Nassir cannot let that stand, and he attempts to convince her to return.

Throughout this whole story there was a level of emotion I wasn’t prepared for. Both of these characters have so much to them. I was always wondering what might happen next and how each event would affect the characters. The supporting characters added to the complexity of the story and the characters. There was such a difference in beliefs and actions between everyone involved in the story, that it added to create a confusion which mimics real life.

Overall this was an unexpected love for me. I knew the story would be awesome, but the level of real I experienced was unexpected. Preorder this book. Do it. Amazing.
