A Kiss to Tell by Willow Winters

A Bookworm Review by Ana

A Kiss To Tell

Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

Darkness can consume you so you can’t give up.

Have a look at the blurb:

From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes a emotionally-gripping, standalone, romantic suspense.

I didn’t need anyone to tell me; I knew he was forbidden with a single glance.

He was a boy I should’ve been afraid of, and definitely a boy I should’ve never wanted. No matter how much neither of those statements were true.

From the first time I saw him, Sebastian had a hard stare that pinned me in place. And years later, it hasn’t softened.

We lived on the same street and went to the same school, although he was a year ahead.

Even so close, he was untouchable.

He was bad news and I was the sad girl who didn’t belong.

One night changed everything.

We both had secrets. We both saw the pain in each other’s eyes.

The gaze that gave me chills turned to a lust-filled haze that heated every inch of me.

But that didn’t change who he was. A man who would take everything from me.

#MyReview:

At the pace that new books are coming my way I have two choices… Read faster or stop sleeping…  And guess what I choose to do? I did both. Lol
Willow Winters has been in my booklife for quite some time and each book drove me crazy but in the good way. Her writing is hot and sexy, forbbiden and super intense. Each book made me feel things and see things differently. Just give her a chance and find out for yourself.
A Kiss To Tell is her latest release and tells the stories of Sebastian and Chloe.
Sebastian had a bad childhood and that made him the typical bad boy with a huge reputation.
He knows what to expect from life but sometimes we can’t predict our future.
Chloe had endured so much pain that made her insecure, sad and sometimes afraid. She just wants to be invisible and forget but sometimes our pasts come to haunt us, no matter what we want.
When these two meet, a few years back, and kissed each other they can’t imagine the impact that single gesture will have on their futures… And I’m saying nothing more.
This book was awesome. The darkness surrounding it made reading this story so much more intense.
The plot is amazing, very well written, super engaging and powerful. The darkness, the suspense, crime were very present as well as love, hope and second chances.
Reading this book, due to its suspense, made it impossible to stop. Finishing one chapter I needed to start the next one right away because the suspense was killing me.
It was an amazing read and I want more.
Sweet baby Jesus… Willow you rock woman. This was another great reading and it was amazing to hear from Carter, to know how everything started… That just made me want Breathless to come super quick. Can’t wait for more.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Undaunted

MC Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

Don’t let the darkness from your past compromise the brightness of your future.

Have a look at the blurb:

LIES WILL BE TOLD, SECRETS WILL BE REVEALED, AND WHAT WAS ONCE LOST WILL BE FOUND.

As the VP of Kings of Retribution MC, I live and breathe this life. After suffering the loss of two women in my life, I grew cold and indifferent to the idea of love. I don’t need to let anyone in. I’ve seen the aftermath it can leave in its quake.
The last thing I’m looking for is someone to fill the void.
Until-Bella Jameson

Struggling to keep my head above water, my only concern is taking care of my sister. The last ting I expected was to fall in love with a tattooed biker, Logan Kane. With evil hiding in the shadows, I have no idea the danger my sister and I are about to face.

Will Logan and Bella overcome their demons in the end, or will they lose each other in the process?

#MyReview:

I’ve started this series backwards. I’ve read the other 4 books first and now I had an opening to read this one and I didn’t miss the opportunity to get into it.
It’s no news that I love MC books and these two ladies know what they are doing. And dayum… What books those are.
I’ve been following this series but the need to know how everything started made me devour this book in one setting.
Undaunted is the first book from the Kings of Retribution MC and tells the stories of Bella and Logan.
Bella had suffered tremendously at the hands of her father. She’s was just a kid but had the straight to keep her sister safe. After that her only focus was to gather enough money to get a place for both of them and start fresh. When a stranger save her for a bad situation she can’t imagine the turn her life is about to get.
Logan is the VP for the Kings of Retribution MC, a position that he has very proud of. He had suffered after loosing the two women he loved the most so he doesn’t want to make that mistake again. Why fall in love when it can be taken away from you in a sec? Why bother when he can have any woman he wants without attachments? But he wasn’t counting on finding his Angel…
I knew that this book would be intense because reading the other ones from this series I knew what I was about to embark.
The plot is magnificent, super engaging and intense, envolved in a blanket of darkness, crime but also some good and hot stuff.
Of course that there isn’t an MC book that doesn’t have the suspense lurking in every corner and I wouldn’t change a thing. A great book it’s the one that can evoke so many emotions in on setting. From crime to love, from darkness to light everything is worth for this constant battle that is to find true love.
Dayum girls… This series is by far one of my favorite and I’m about to read all books again.

Abe (Savage Kings MC Book 2) by Lane Hart and D.B. West

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Abe

MC Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

Don’t deny your feelings because you might regret it…

Have a look at the blurb:

Abram Cross didn’t want the life of crime that fate had dealt him, but what other choice did he have when his mother spent every penny on drugs instead of buying food for him and his younger brother?

While Abe is no longer a professional thief, he’s still living on the wrong side of the law as a member of the Savage Kings MC. He never claimed to be a good guy; but after Abe meets Mercy Daniels, he’s starting to wish he was a better man.

Abe was only supposed to take Mercy for a ride on the back of his bike. He didn’t plan on offering her more than a few good times between the sheets.

When Mercy starts getting creepy letters from a psycho, one who has also been breaking into her house, Abe refuses to just walk away. He won’t let her down the way he let down his brother when he needed him most.

Abe knows he’s the perfect man to provide Mercy with protection. But who will protect Abe’s heart when he starts to fall for the woman he knows he could never deserve?
This is the second book in the Savage Kings MC series. The reading order is:
Chase
Abe
Torin

#MyReview:

Mad doesn’t even cover the way I was when this baby appeared on my Kindle… I was mad because I’ve almost missed it and I never miss a book from this author. Ever… So you can guess how I was…
Lane Hart has been a constant in my reading life and her books held me hostage just by reading the first chapter. She’s amazing and knocked me out book after book. Her writing is hot and wild, intense and special. Each book made me dream and feel things… Oh boy… And then join D.B West and the mix is explosive.
Abe is their latest release and it’s the second book from the Savage Kings MC.
But I need to tell you something. Despite all books are standalones you should read Chase first, by doing so you will understand everything…
This book explores the lifes of Abe and Mercy.
Abe is one of the brothers from the Savage Kings MC. He has devoted his life to keep his brothers and families safe but then a tragedy strikes and the president’s old lady is killed. That made him not want to settle down with no woman. None… But sometimes life has other ideas…
Mercy just wanted to get away and try to forget what happened but even after 1 year the pain is still there. The fact that she suffered in front of millions doesn’t play well in her field so what can she do? Keep hiding or fight to get her life back?
Like I suspected it would be, even before I start reading it, this book just nailed it. Dayum… What a journey.
The plot is magnificent, super engaging and powerful, full of everything that makes a great book…
The interation between the characters is beautiful despite all the drama surrounding them.
The story gave me a few goose bumps because the unknown want right there.
There were parts of the story that I saw myself wanting to hurt someone, these two are super stubborn but there were others that I just wanted to hold them and promise that everything would be alright.
It was a joy to read this book and I know that once you start to read it you won’t be able to stop. Trust me. I’ve read it in one setting… Dayum.
The hot stuff is there and will melt your pantie, I’d you have one. Lol
Lane,  Lane,  Lane… What can I say? Nothing new right? Dayum this book was amazing, who am I kidding, this series started in the beat way and it’s evolving into a masterpiece. Can’t wait to read Torin’s book.

Excerpt:

As soon as the goddess opens her mouth, I’m all ears.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Mercy.”

Mercy?” I repeat aloud with a chuckle. “As in, Lord, please have Mercy on me?”

The beauty throws her head back and laughs like I’ve said the funniest fucking shit she’s ever heard. The sound is brief but lovely, like tinkling wind chimes on a calm day.

“Yes, just like that,” she answers. She hesitates a moment before she holds out her dainty hand in my direction, finally giving me permission to touch her. Since I can’t possibly shake it with my big mitt without breaking it, I gently slip my palm underneath and lower my lips to brush them over her delicate knuckles. When I lick my lips and taste the mango of her lotion or body wash, I nearly groan.

“Abe,” Chase mutters from beside me in a tone that says I need to get a fucking grip.

And hell, I know that I do. In all my life, I’ve never kissed a woman’s knuckles, not just because it looks like a cheesy fucking come-on, but because in the Savage Kings MC culture, it means I’m giving her a higher status than myself, a King. Only old ladies deserve that much respect, not a woman I just met.

Maverick (Hell’s Handlers MC Book 2) by Lilly Atlas

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Maverick

MC Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

There is a fine line that seperates right from wrong but it’s so delicious to live in between…

Have a look at the blurb:

Stephanie Little firmly believes the world exists in two states: right and wrong, good and evil, unlawful and law-abiding. She chose her side the moment she joined the FBI and pledged to rid the world of as many criminals as possible.

Maverick is everything Stephanie isn’t: inked, pierced, flirty, masculine as sin, but most of all, an outlaw. When corruption in Stephanie’s crime-fighting world lands her in the clutches of a dangerous gangster, Maverick is there to keep her sane and battle for her protection.

With Stephanie’s neat existence so turned around that she can no longer distinguish the good from the evil, she finds herself thrust into a world so gray she can’t see three feet in front of her face. To survive the confusion, she turns to the only person who keeps her grounded—the sexy outlaw who melts her heart and weakens her knees.

But law enforcement and criminals can never mix. Not in the way her body and heart are begging for. At some point, someone is going to learn her secret, and when that happens, her fierce protector could become her greatest enemy.

#MyReview:

And here we go again… Again on the hunt af another fantastic MC book… Hell yeah…
I’ve read a few books from this genre and I can’t get enough. How can someone be so into it is beyond me but I really don’t care.
Lilly Atlas has an amazing writing full of what we want and desire. Yep… You’ve read it correctly Desire because each hot scene will make you blush.
Maverick is her latest release and it’s the second book from the Hell’s Handlers series. Have you guess what this series is about? MC of course.
I totally advise you to read book 1 first, Zach, because it will give you a you need to know.
This new book explores the lifes of Maverick and Stephanie.
Stephanie is an FBI agent that swore to protect and live her life on the right side of the law. For her there is only right or wrong and there is no time for breaking that.
Until her perfect world become not that perfect. And when she goes on an undercover assignment…
Maverick is one of the guys, hot, raw, intense and a womanizer of course. His past wasn’t the perfect one but he grew up alright. One day he’s kidnapped and tortured by a rival MC just to send a message to his club. Being the Road Capitan he knows the dangers that come with that position.
But he wasn’t expecting…
Jesus… What a book… What a book.
The plot is amazing, super engaging with so much between the chapters.
The chemistry between the characters is intense despite all the darkness and drama surrounding them.
There were parts of the book that I feared for the characters lifes but there were others that I laughed so hard.
This book presented us with crime, punishment, drama, suspense as well as love, desire, loyalty and so much hotness… Dayum
Lilly I can’t possibly describe how I love this book. It was intense and the suspense almost killed me. It was amazing to have news from Zach and I can’t wait for what’s about to happen.

3 Maverick no one

Excerpt:

The world existed in two states: right and wrong.

At least that’s how Stephanie Little had always seen it.

A clear, divisive line separating saints and sinners kept life manageable.

Good and evil.

Truth and lies.

Rule followers and rule breakers.

Criminals and law-abiding citizens.

All the murky gray areas and half-truths were just excuses and loopholes for people who weren’t willing to make the right choices.

After careful consideration, Stephanie always made the right choice or at least she tried to. And if she didn’t, she owned it and faced the consequences of her actions.

The split between right and wrong was what drew her to law enforcement straight out of high-school. Well, that and the fact that she grew up with the police chief for a father.

Born and raised in Pittsburg, she’d hardcore hero worshiped her father through her childhood. He’d received countless commendations for his life-saving work reducing the murder and crime rates in their city.

Stephanie had wanted that. Craved the opportunity to leave that kind of mark on the world. Rid the planet of some darkness and inject good back for those who deserved it. Those who followed the rules and lived in the light.

So, at twenty-one, with a shiny new criminal justice degree, she’d joined the police academy. Dreams of confiscating drugs, saving kidnapped children, and locking up murders powered her to the top of her class.

On the eve of graduation, her father showed up at the apartment she shared with another female cadet. In a matter of twenty minutes, he’d shattered Stephanie’s perfectly compartmentalized world.

“Steppy,” he’d said in the way her younger brother used to say her name. Jake had trouble with the F sound until he was four, but by then the name stuck and she’d been Steppy to her family from then on. “I know you’re excited to graduate and eager to dive into your first position with the PPD, but I need to tell you something important.”

She’d frowned and leaned her head on her father’s broad shoulder. “What’s that, Dad?”

“The world doesn’t always work the way you think it does, Step. You see black and you see white. Well, honey, in the real world, those colors don’t even exist. It’s all a grayscale. You need to know that, really know it, in order to survive the life you chose for yourself. There may be things you’re called on to do that don’t fit neatly into the boxes you’ve created.”

That conversation was the beginning of the end of her relationship with her father. She’d smiled, nodded, and told him what he wanted to hear, but rolled her eyes the moment he left. He was older, nearing retirement, out of touch with the way the world worked.

Such youthful arrogance and ignorance.

But Stephanie managed to hold on to her ideals through her first year on the force. Even when her father lost his position in a shameful bribery scandal that earned him fifteen years in prison, she hadn’t budged.

He’d done the crime, he deserved the time.

Then, somehow, she made it through two years working for the FBI before her perfectly divided world was smashed to bits. And it wasn’t smashed with a sledgehammer either. No, a damn wrecking ball in the form on an undercover assignment crashed through the glass house she lived in, launching millions of sharp shards at her delicate skin.

And it hurt.

God, did it hurt.

“One more chance, bitch. What the fuck are you doin’ here?” some dead-eyed brute asked her about five seconds after his fist connected with her face.

For the second time.

The second punch disoriented her for a second. Long enough to lose her sense of upright and meet the ground.

On all fours, with palms and knees throbbing from the bits of gravel and dirt embedded in the skin, Stephanie spit out blood that had pooled in her mouth from the split lip. “Hiking,” she said, the sound a bit muffled from her swollen lip. “Got lost.”

And…damn…who knew talking with a split lip would hurt so damn much. Tears pooled in her eyes, but she’d rather die than let one of those suckers slip free. She wasn’t the toughest of chicks out there…physically at least. A few arrests during her time as a beat cop had resulted in physical altercations with bumps and bruising. She’d always put on a tough mask in front of her fellow cops but bawled like a baby in the privacy of her own home.

Dead-eyes threw back his head and laughed before looking at his buddy, a guy so overweight, Stephanie was pretty sure she could outrun him even if they broke both her legs. “You believe this bitch, Top?” he asked the larger man.

Top grunted and shook his head, his many chins wobbling like Jello. “Fuck no. No reason for a bitch to be hiking out here, Shark. Ain’t even any fuckin’ trails.”

Like he would know?

Stephanie bit back the smart-assed remark on the tip of her tongue. Silence was her best bet. Plus, this little gangbanger pow-wow gave her a second to reorient and breath through the pain.

“What about you, King? You believe her?” The man called Shark asked the man on his right and Stephanie held her breath.

This was it. Her way out. Sure, there’d be hell to pay later for the rookie-level mistake of getting busted snooping in the woods outside their compound, but she’d take an ass chewing form her boos over being beat to shit or worse by pissed off gang members.

All her partner, Eric, or King to these pieces of shit had to say was that he believed her. Saw her tromping around like an idiot. Spotted her looking lost and stupid in the woods. He could volunteer to drop her somewhere and scare the piss out of her so she wouldn’t talk.

Shark and the Top dude were scary as fuck and she wanted gone in the worst way.

“No I don’t fuckin’ believe this, bitch,” King said, lifting his military grade rifle and stomping forward until the weapon was pressed dead center against her forehead. “I say we just waste her now. Bury her and get back to those bitches we left naked and needy.”

What. The. Fuck.

Stephanie had never worked so hard in her life as she did to keep the shock off her face and the vile words in her mouth.

Calm down.

King wasn’t serious. He couldn’t be. Her partner was a veteran FBI agent for crying out loud. There had to be a plan to get her out bouncing around in his head.

That knowledge helped her relax despite the fact one twitch of King’s finger would splatter her brains all over the Tennessee woods.

“Nah,” Shark said. “Where’s the fun in that? Let’s take her with us. A few hours hanging with the boys and she’ll be ready to talk.”

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

She stared hard into King’s eyes trying to send him a mental message. This was as bad for him as it was for her. They’d torture her for information and she’d crack.

Everyone cracked.

Especially if they had zilch training in enduring torture.

“Who gives a fuck why she’s here? Let me kill her and be fuckin done with it.”

Stephanie was in serious danger of puking all over the forest floor. As she stared at her partner of two years, the partner who taught her everything she knew about working for the FBI, the partner who teased her endlessly for her opinions on the black and white nature of the world, his lips quirked.

And she knew.

There were no fucking shades of gray.

She’d been right all along.

Only black. Only white.

And King had officially been swallowed by the darkness.

He’d always told her working undercover would change her view of the world. That undercover agents often had to live the life of a criminal and learn to deal with living in the shadows for the sake of doing good. But this wasn’t a case of doing what he had to maintain cover. This was a monster who wore human skin for a time and managed to fool even the most skeptical.

“What the fuck did I say, King?” Shark asked. “I want her at the compound. You can kill her eventually, but it’s been a shit week. The boys need some fun first.”

Stephanie swallowed. Boys? Fun?

There weren’t too many ways to interpret that.

The gun fell away from her head and she sat back on her heels.

Why? What was so appealing about this lifestyle that a decorated FBI agent would do a one-eighty and betray everything he once stood for.

Money?

Frustration with the system?

Sticking it to the man?

It seemed too dramatic to be making a point.

The ultimate hissy fit.

“Let’s roll,” Shark said, turning on his heel and strolling toward the building she could see through the trees in the distance.

The fat one leered at her for a second more before waddling after his master like an overfed but well-trained dog.

Somewhat alone with her partner, Stephanie rose to her feet. Whatever was about to happen, it would happen while she was on her knees in front of him. He’d have to look her full in the eye. For one second, she had the insane urge to call out to Shark. To yell as loud as she could and let the scumbag know his precious King was an undercover FBI agent.

It wouldn’t matter if he pledged his loyalty to Shark forever. He’d be killed. That’s how it worked with gangs.

Nothing less than he deserved at that moment.

But she didn’t give into that urge. Because it would be wrong.

And she always chose right.

“Why?” she whispered when Shark was out of earshot.

King grunted and shook his head. “So fucking naïve, Stephanie. You always have been. It’s all gray out here.”

No. She refused to believe it. This situation was clearly not on any gray spectrum. King was evil. Plain and simple.

“No, Eric, I’m not naïve. But you sure are a fucking traitor.”

“You’ll never get it. And you’ll never survive this world. Wake the fuck up,” King said as he thrust his right arm forward and rammed the butt of his rifle into her head.

His murderous expression was the last thing she saw before her vision blacked.

Ash Jenkins was the typical boy next door. Wait, who am I kidding? There was nothing typical about that boy.

He was tall, ripped, and had the voice of a man twice his age.

Sent to live with his dad after getting in some trouble with the law, he was definitely someone I needed to stay away from.

But he had his sights set on me, and he didn’t try to hide it.

Did it still make me a cougar if I was the prey?

#MyReview:

Every single time that I have a book from this Ga’ll I get nervous. Wanna know why? Because this lady is responsible for the biggest ugly cry of my reading life. There are other authors that accomplish that as well but hers got stuck into my heart because it was the first one…
Leddy Harper is the one to blame. Her writing is powerful, intense, full of meaning and feelings. Each scene is described in a way that will take your breath away. Just give her a chance and you won’t regret it.
After reading just one book I got addicted and like a real fan I always want more.
Kiss My Ash is her latest release and tells the stories of Asher and Kristy.
Asher got into trouble with the law and was forced to go back to his father’s house. He’s a bad boy that fears nothing and that sometimes can become a problem. One neighbor changed him and…
Kristy is a single mom trying to raise her 16 year old daughter. She become a mom when she was a teen and instead of partying she turned her life around her daughter. Love wasn’t in the cards for her but…
Let me just say that I really loved this story. I’ve started reading it when this author created a short story called The Boy Next Door and I wanted to have more from them and now… This book just nailed it.
The plot is amazing, very well written, super engaging and intense, with the forbidden factor just around the corner.
The interaction between the characters is beautiful despite all the drama and secrecy around them.
We can’t predict the future, or the person we will fall in love because our heart has a mind of its own. Age is just a number because when you know… You know.
This book might be a taboo for some of you but for me it was perfect.
Like always Leddy you nailed it. This book is intense and the struggles these two endured were epic. Thank you for listening to us and giving us more from Ash and Kristy. I love your books because you write about real people, real issues and not the typical fairytale kids read when they go to bed. This book might be seen as a negative thing since there are people out there that are used to only see black or white forgetting that grey makes life so much more appealing. Keep doing this amazing job and making us happy with your books.
What’s next on your agenda?

About the author:

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.
She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

#MyReview:

There are days that I don’t want to get out of bed and just be left alone in the dark to think about things or simply to relax not wanting anyone to bother me. But when I know that I have a new book ready to devour I just want to start it right away. And if it’s an MC book I’ll be on cloud nine, that’s for sure.
D. D. Galvani has given me 2 books to read so far and getting a new one can be amazing. Besides, it’s a series that I’m really loving and can’t get enough.
D. D. Galvani is the bomb. Her writing is raw and intense, wild and addictive, simple and super detailed.
Sonny’s Surrender is her latest release and it’s the third book from the Devil’s Wind MC series and what a series this has been.
Before I tell you a little bit more about this book I need to tell you something. I totally recommend you to read the first two books and then this one. Despite all books are standalones you should read all to understand the characters beginnings.
This book tells the stories of Sonny and Gia.
Sonny due to past experiences swore love out but sometimes we can’t ignore what our heart wants so when the stunning Gia walks crosses his path he knows what he wants…
He hides a secret that keeps hurting his heart but things can change…
Gia has her heart in the right place and when she step up to help a friend she got friends and protectors for life by the Devil’s MC.
She’s not immune to the stunning Sonny but there are things that can’t be forgotten.
And now these two crossed paths and…
Dayum this book just nailed it. It was intense, breathtaking with so much meaning between each chapter. Once I started it I couldn’t put it down and I was beyond excited to read it.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and powerful. Each scene was described in every tiny detail and that made me fall in love with all.
The interation between the characters is beautiful  despite all the trouble surrounding them.
It was amazing to have news from the other characters from this series.
And now it’s over and I want more.
Please DD… Give me more, but soon because I can’t handle the waiting.

Excerpt:

“Four months later, when I went home to visit my mom, I got a knock at the door one night. She was strung out and looking for money, and she had a belly, the rest of her was bones, but that belly stuck out. If there was ever a time I’d ever wanted to hit a woman, that was it. My mom saved her. She made her come in, cleaned her up, fed her, and called a friend who helped us get her into rehab that night. She cursed and screamed at us to leave her the fuck alone, but that was my kid she was messing up. I didn’t give a shit what happened to her, but that baby didn’t deserve to be born to a junkie mom and an absent dad. I made a deal with her that if she stayed in rehab, got clean long enough for the baby to be born, that I would take care of everything else. She agreed, but only if I made myself scarce. She didn’t want to see me or hear from me until she gave birth.”

Dukes finally said something. “I think I know where this is going, but you need to finish, purge this shit from your system, Sonny.”

Getting up, I started to pace. “I crawled into the bottle and stayed there ‘til he was born. It dulled the pain and helped me not to face the fucking mess my life was. That day in the hospital when they placed my son in my arms, my life changed. He was perfect, Dukes. He didn’t give a fuck that I was a screwed up ex-marine or that his mom was a junkie whore. When I left the hospital that day, I went to an AA meeting. I was determined to be a better man for my son.”

“And Kelsey?” he asked.

I laughed bitterly. “She had other ideas. She played the new mom role ‘til she was discharged. I walked beside her wheelchair down to the car where her married friends were waiting with a car seat and a bag full of new baby clothes. She gave me a hospital card with an address written on the back where she and the baby would be living. I’d given her money for the first and last month’s rent when she brought me the papers. She had gotten a job at a local daycare where she could bring the baby to work with her. It didn’t pay much but having the baby with her was worth it, and I was going to be there to pick up the slack financially. But it was all a fucking lie!”

My fist flashed out, hitting the wall with a sickening thud. I heard my knuckle crack and knew I’d broken it, but I didn’t care. “She lied about all of it, and when she drove away in that truck, it was the last time I saw her and him. I went to the apartment that never heard of her, the daycare that looked at me like a crazy man, the couple who didn’t exist in any database in the country. My sponsor kept me sane, coming home to the club gave me purpose. I hired the PIs and did what I could to find them, but I didn’t let it consume me. I was afraid of falling into that deep, dark pit and not being able to claw my way out again. I wanted my son to know that his ol’ man was more than a broken down, drunk ex-soldier.”

The Mafia And His Obsession: Part 1 (Tainted Hearts Series Book 4) by Lylah James

A Bookworm Review by Ana

The Mafia and His Obsession

Mafia Romantic Suspense

I give this book 5 stars!

Darkness is a way of punishment but it can be your salvation…

Have a look at the blurb:

My life only has one purpose, and it’s to protect them—my family.

Whether I fight, maim, or kill the enemy, it makes no difference to me. If have to take a bullet for my family, I would embrace death with a goddamn smile on my face.

When their safety is compromised, I put my life on the line and made a deal with the devil. I never questioned it, not even once…

…Until her.

All it takes is one glance. With her pretty eyes now imprinted on my soul, the foundation my life has been built on is shifting. My loyalty has become hazy, and my life has a new meaning. There’s a pull between us that’s undeniable, and a carnal desire that threatens to ruin us both. It has turned me into a man obsessed.

My perfect, well-planned life is now in chaos, and a choice needs to be made.

My family…or my obsession?

#MyReview:

I love to read, fact that 4 years ago wasn’t real, but once I found out what I love to read about it was like watching a snow ball growing up.
There are a few genres that I love to read and Mafia books is one of them. The more dark they appear to be, the more I love.
I’m new with this author and let me just say that the blurb was my undoing and the cover…. Yummy…
Lylah James is a new author to me and let’s just say that I really enjoyed her writing. It’s raw and wild, strong and intense with all the ups and downs that makes a story worth our time.
The Mafia and His Obsession is her latest release and it’s the fourth book from the Tainted Hearts series. But I advise you to read The Mafia and His Angel, all 4 books… You’ll see why.
This book tells the stories of Viktor and Valerie.
Viktor was made a killer in order to defend his family no matter what. But then something happened that can change who he is… Or not…
Valerie has been living a living hell. Being abused by a madman will make you wish you’re dead until…
Sweet Jesus… What just happened?
I was waiting for a dark story but Dayum… It was beyond that. It was intense and so much more.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and powerful. Each chapter made me feel things and see things differently than I thought I would.
The interation between the characters is raw and intense and will make you see that not everything is what it seems.
One minute I was reading and thinking one thing and then bamm it changed. I was happy, I was sad, I was enraged but it was all worth it.
This book presented us with love, devotion, loyalty, family as well as crime, punishment, betrayal and madness.
One minute I was reading and the next it was over… Why? Why? I can’t wait that long…
I really can’t say more without spoil so I’m going to shut up.
Lylah I loved this book and I can’t wait for the next one. I need more… And I need it now.

Dr. Fellatio

Contemporary Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

True love can’t be forgotten…

Have a look at the blurb:

Women hire me, pay me an exorbitant amount of money, to teach them the art of…oral stimulation. I’m what people have referred to as a “professional blower.”

In college, it was a great way to make money, needing the extra cash to get me through school. By the time I graduated, I saw the potential to earn more than my degree would ever be able to offer me.

I had a good run…until my ex’s new girlfriend hired me to teach her how to please him.

Or so I thought.

#MyReview:

It’s been a pleasure to read book from these two girls separately because they are amazing, but when they got together and create a story…. Dayum… We are going to get a huge surprise…
Have you read any book from them? If you haven’t I totally advise you to read them and prepare to be amazed…
Leddy and Stephie know what they are doing and will hook you up.
Dr. Fellatio is their latest release and tells the stories of Chris and Lexi.
What tittle is this? What’s the first word that crosses your mind when you read it?
Wanna know what I’m thinking? I’m having some dirty, dirty thoughts… Hey… Don’t judge…
These two were highschool sweethearts that wanted to live forever together but their choices pulled them apart.
Chris is an IT teck that had to study hard to achieve this title. He’s amazing in what he does but he’s incomplete…
Lexi had pursued her career in marketing with aspirations to climb up the leader of success but she’s still stuck. One the side she’s Dr. Fellatio that helps people getting better with their romance in bed. One client brought her what she wasn’t expecting.
Now, 5 years later they see each other again and let’s say that things aren’t the same.
This story just stole my heart. It had everything in it to be the incredible masterpiece it was.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and detailed. The interation between the characters is beautiful despite all the trouble surrounding them. All characters worked perfectly with each other and each scene was described in every tiny detail.
There were parts of the story that I wanted to slap someone and there were others that I was laughing so hard that I almost wet my panties. Lol
It was hilarious to read a few scenes and got me thinking that I was in a cucu house…
Carl, Jasmine and Candi are the epitome of craziness. These guys kept doing things and saying things that just proves they were insane.
The story progressed smoothly and intensely and I loved every page.
Leddy and Stephie what can I say? You guys rock and I’m a lucky girl for having the chance to read your books.
What’s next in Stella’s agenda?

WOLF 2: Westside Skulls Motorcycle Club (Westside Skulls MC Romance) by Jessie Cooke

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Wolf 2

MC Romance

I give this book 5 stars!

Don’t fight what you can’t understand. Fight for your happiness and live free.

Have a look at the blurb:

Starting over is never easy…especially after your heart has been broken. Wolf never wanted to be one of those guys that collected club girls, or chased every skirt he saw. All he ever wanted was one woman to love fiercely, and a family to take care of and protect. But sometimes no matter how much you want something, or how hard you’re willing to fight for it, fate and karma have other plans.
Blair works with some of California’s toughest criminals. She’s a psychologist who follows former inmates back out into the community, and makes recommendations for their futures based on their current situation. It’s her job to decide if they are likely to reoffend…and often her decisions make her less than popular with some very dangerous men. When one of those men decides he wants to get even with her, she finds a group of unlikely heroes in a motorcycle club that’s been wronged by him as well. Something about the president of the MC appeals to her in a way that makes her question everything she ever believed and the fine line that some people draw between good and evil. Is it possible for a woman who has dedicated herself to upholding the law, to love a man that has dedicated his to walking a tightrope in between?
Wolf is struggling to start over. He lost someone that he cared for deeply and that left his chest with a deep, empty hole. When he meets Blair, the prison psychologist rescued from the clutches of an evil man by Wolf and his club, he begins to wonder if it’s possible for him to love again…but before he and Blair can even begin to figure things out, Wolf is arrested for murder and it starts to look like there’s no hope for the future for the freshly arrested inmate and the traumatized psychologist who just might not be able to trust or believe in a man like Wolf Lee.

Book 2 in the Westside Skulls MC Series.
This is a Standalone Romance Novel but characters from this story, will appear in future books in the series.
HEA and No cliffhanger.
Intended for Mature Readers.
* * *
The Westside Skulls MC Series is about members of the MC club, their friends and associates.
Each story, while focused around one main character, is not necessarily about a Westside Skulls club member, but the story is related to Skulls members and the club.

#MyReview:

It doesn’t matter if I have a huge migraine because if I have a glimpse of a book written by this author on my Kindle I need to start it. Let’s face it… I’m addicted not only by her books but also MC ones… Dayum… I’m on cloud nine. Ah ah ah.
Jessie Cooke knows what she’s doing… She’s a master writing this genre and I’m one lucky girl for the chance to read all. Her writing is hot and wild, forbidden, intense and raw.  Let’s not forget the hit stuff she writes about… Dayum… Those scenes could wake up a dead person. Lol.
But before I tell you a little bit more about her new release I need to ask you something. Have you read her Southside Skulls series? Or Westside Skulls book 1? The first series will hold your attention from the first page and a few characters will appear on this one.
Anyway, for you to understand this new book you should read Wolf the prequel first and then start this one. Trust me.
Wolf is her latest release and it’s the second book from the Westside Skulls series and keep telling Wolf’s story as well as Blair’s.
Has you already know, if you had read the first book, Wolf is the President of the Westside Skulls MC. He’s loyal to his club and will do everything in his power to protect them. He was betrayed by the woman who was supposed to live forever by his side and after that he couldn’t commit. One night stands and that was it.
Blair is a psychologist that help former inmates to settle back into the community. Her word can keep them in society or locked up and that sometimes can be dangerous. And one day her path crosses with Wolf…
I’m in love… I’m overwhelmed… I’m addicted… And I want more… So much more…
This book is freaking awesome and hot… So hot…
The plot is intense, very well written, super engaging and powerful. Each chapter made me keep reading and reading until my eyes hurt… I wanted to know more, I needed to know more so I just kept reading and reading.
The interation between the characters is beautiful, with a few bumps on the road.
The loyalty, the friendship, the love is very present in this book as well as betrayal, crime, madness and deceive.
I totally advise you to read this series and I can’t wait for Bruf to arrive.
Oh boy Jessie… What have you done? I love the Southside Skulls series and this new one just stole my heart. Can’t wait for the next one.

Excerpt:

Wolf growled as he grabbed a handful of that thick, blonde hair. “Don’t stop, baby.” He thrust his hips forward, pushing his cock deeper into her mouth, hitting the back of her throat. She could be a porn star with that mouth. He’d fucked her ten times at least…this week…and she had yet to gag once. He was so close…he closed his eyes and suddenly a picture of Amara popped into his head. She was on her knees like this little club girl was now, but as she sucked him, she stared up at him with those deep brown eyes…those eyes that he could never resist, those eyes…fuck. He opened his and suddenly, he was just done. Pissed off, he pushed the girl on her knees back and said, “Sorry, baby, I got things I need to do.” He wasn’t pissed at her, or really even at Amara anymore. He hated her, but he wasn’t angry any longer…not at her. He was angry with himself for not being able to move on. The pretty girl sat back on the carpeted floor on her naked butt, big, pert boobs sticking out and blonde hair in disarray around a gorgeous face. She really should do porn, Wolf thought. Maybe he’d suggest she go see his friends in Boston. They could hook her up.

“But you didn’t finish.”

He was already zipping his jeans and buckling his belt. “I’m good,” he said. “Go on and get dressed now, you can’t stay here.” They were in his little house behind the club. Maybe that was his problem…maybe he needed to stop bringing them there where Amara’s ghost inhabited everything. The girl, whose name was Amber, pushed up off the floor and Wolf watched her get dressed. Her perfect body usually stirred something in him when he looked at her…but not today. Today was his ex-wife’s birthday, and for some reason, although she’d tried to have him killed a few short months before, she was still on his mind. It wasn’t that he wanted her back, it was more like she was in his head just to continue to torture him…and hold him back.

He tried to stop thinking about her and when Amber was finally ready, he walked her out and made sure she was gone before locking his door and heading over to the club. He never used to lock his door before, but the Colombian witch that used to be his wife had left him not only angry and bitter, but slightly paranoid as well.

He went into the back door of the clubhouse, entering through the kitchen. A few of the girls were there, cleaning up breakfast dishes. Wolf’s favorite club girl, and his best friend, Tricia, greeted him first. “Hey, Boss, looking good. How are you doing today?” He gave Tricia a kiss on the cheek while the other girls looked on. He wasn’t one of those guys that did the women right out in the open in the clubhouse, nor did he easily display his affections. But Tricia was different. She was proof that not all soulmates were meant to be love interests. Some people came into your life as stabilizing forces and to prove that there are such things as unconditional love and affection.

“You’re looking good too,” he said. “As always.” He wasn’t lying. For a forty-something-year-old woman, she was still hotter than most of the younger club girls. Wolf still fucked her from time to time…but in all honesty, he tried not to. He truly wanted her to be happy one day, to find a man that would make her his old lady and treat her right. He also knew that if he started to depend on her too much, he’d use her like a crutch and she’d let him. They both needed to move forward with their lives. He wasn’t quite sure how to do that, and Tricia seemed to be stuck in place for quite a few years now herself.

Wolf realized that maybe he wasn’t a very good friend. He honestly didn’t know why she stayed around the clubhouse so much. She liked sex, and she got plenty of it there…but he didn’t doubt she could get plenty of that anywhere. Something kept her coming back; he just never thought to ask her what that was. “The day’s good,” he lied. He could see in Tricia’s eyes that she didn’t believe him. It would be just like her to remember that today was Amara’s birthday…not for Amara, Tricia never liked her, but for Wolf. It was things like that which sometimes made him think about saying Fuck romantic love and just marrying his soulmate…but he knew that at least one of them deserved better than that…and he doubted it was him.

“You hungry?” she asked, drying her hands on the dishtowel. Even if everything was gone, she’d make something for him, and it would be great. She was a freak in the sack, a whiz in the kitchen, one hell of a listener…she could dance, sing a little, and she was one of the smartest women he’d ever met. She was the whole package…older than him, but he wouldn’t be bothered by that either. It was simply that as much as he loved her, he wasn’t in love with her, and if that hadn’t happened by now, it probably never would.

“Nah, I’m just gonna grab some coffee. Manson and I are going over some invoices today, getting things ready for the tax man. Hate that shit.”

Tricia laughed as she poured him a mug of hot coffee. He said hello to the other two girls then, one he’d fucked a few days before, but couldn’t for the life of him remember her name, and one he hadn’t met yet…but already thought he might be looking her up later. One good thing about being in an MC when the woman of your dreams rips your heart out of your chest and stomps on it…you don’t have to go far to find a distraction…they come out of the woodwork around the club.

He took his coffee and went through the kitchen door and down the hall to the office. He found Manson there already, as he knew he would, with his sleeves rolled up and a pile of invoices and spreadsheets in front of him. Manson loved this shit. Wolf hated it, and usually tried to get out of it…but Manson didn’t want to make any financial decisions without Wolf signing off on them, even if Wolf told him it was okay.

He kicked out a chair with his foot, sat down, and said, “I think I need to go somewhere and look for some different pussy.”

Manson stopped what he was doing and looked up at his president. Shaking his head and grinning he said, “Good morning to you too, Prez.”

“Good morning. I was just thinking as I walked through the kitchen and saw the new club girl…maybe I need really new. Maybe I should get the hell out of this valley for a while and find some fresh pussy that hasn’t been drilled by every guy around me already.”

“Well, if that’s your way of asking if I drilled that, the answer is yes…twice, and just this morning.”

“See what I mean?” Wolf said. That was the thing about Amara. She was no virgin when he met her, but none of the brothers in his club had ever laid a hand on her. He could never love or have a relationship with a woman that had been with any of the rest of them. He knew that was chauvinistic on his part, since he was still willing to fuck them all…but it was what he knew about himself. Not that he was even sure he ever wanted another relationship…but still, fresh pussy sounded great.

“You’re going to Vegas next weekend, why not look there?”

Wolf chuckled. “Right…fresh pussy in Sin City, that’s exactly where I’d find it.”

Manson shrugged. “You never know. At least she wouldn’t have fucked all the brothers in the club. How fresh you talking? You want a virgin or something?”

Wolf made a face. He didn’t think he’d ever had a virgin, but he was sure that wasn’t what he wanted. He just didn’t want a woman that every man in the room knew how she tasted. He wanted a woman who would be willing, no matter how many men she’d had before…to only be with him.

“Nah, don’t want no virgin. But don’t want one who’s fucked all the brothers either.”

“You looking for an old lady?”

“No. Hell no. Just…different, I guess.” Wolf honestly didn’t have any idea what he was looking for. Amara had messed him up, badly. When he met her, he thought that was it…that he’d fucked the last woman he would ever fuck, and he was surprisingly okay with that. She was hot…and they were so good together. If he lived to be a hundred, he’d never understand why it wasn’t good enough for her. Maybe that was why he suddenly needed fresh pussy. His ego was wounded, and he needed a woman that didn’t look up to him because of his position in the club, to tell him he was good enough. Maybe Manson was right, and Vegas would be a good place to look.

Wolf was going to Vegas the following weekend with Bruf, to meet up with Dax Marshall, his brother Gunner, and several of the other Southside Skulls from Boston. Together, they had invested in a gym not long ago and it was in that gym that one of the greatest MMA fighters in the US, Jacob “The Lion” Wright, was training Dax’s brother Gunner for a PPV fight that was happening in Vegas on Saturday night. Jacob and his team had already flown back to Vegas and Gunner was with them, training for his last week at their gym. Jacob wanted him there where he could keep a close eye on him, making sure he stuck to his diet, training, and lifestyle. Dax and his guys were riding down from Boston and would meet Wolf and Bruf in Nevada on that Saturday afternoon. They all had front row seats and Wolf was looking forward to it, if for no other reason than he needed a vacation, a chance to shed the responsibility of taking care of a crew of almost fifty and their families. Not to mention he hadn’t had a chance to get away and shake Amara from the corners of his mind.

“So, what’s all this shit?” he asked, getting back to business.

“Payroll receipts,” Manson said. “We’re paying out more money than we’re claiming to have made.”

“Well, that can’t be good.”

Manson laughed, “You think? The gym isn’t making money yet, but despite that, we’ve got eight people on that payroll. The garage made about thirty grand, legitimately last year, but we paid out over fifty in salaries. There’s a lot of money coming out of the warehouse, but we can’t claim any of that. I can see where Granite funneled some of it into repairs and upkeep on the timeshares, but I’m not sure where the hell the rest of it is. He was supposed to be here to explain all this shit. It’s like looking at Chinese, and I’m the one that’s going to have to explain it to the tax man.”

Michael “Granite” Parker was the Westside Skulls treasurer, and quite possibly one of the strangest men that Wolf had ever met. He looked like he should be working on Wall Street instead of riding with an MC…but the man could ride, he could shoot the head off a pin at a hundred yards, and he was one of the most loyal sons of bitches that Wolf had ever known. Granite got his name thanks to the stone face he wore ninety percent of the time. He rarely showed any expression and even when he talked, it was hard to tell if he was happy, sad, or ready to kill himself. He had been treasurer of the club since Wolf’s father was president. It wasn’t a job most people wanted, but up to this point, he’d been doing a great job. He was responsible for laundering the “cash transactions” the club made and the way he did that was by setting up payroll accounts. Suddenly, however, that didn’t look like the best idea.

“Well, tell him to get his ass here,” Wolf said.

“I would if I could find him.”

“What do you mean? Did you call him?” Wolf drew his brows together…a missing treasurer, privy to all the secrets of the club, would not be a good thing.

“Of course I called him, several times. It just goes to voicemail. I texted him too with no response and I sent one of the prospects over to his apartment.” Granite didn’t live at or near the clubhouse. He kept his own apartment on the north side of town. Wolf had a bad feeling, though—if Granite wasn’t at the clubhouse, or on club business, he was almost always at home. He came from a wealthy family and he liked the finer things in life. He played the violin and listened to classical music and sipped expensive wine when he was in his own home, and he loved his alone time.

“I don’t like it,” Wolf told Manson. “Get some of the guys together and send them out to look for him.”

“Where would they start? I’m sorry, but the dude is weird. If he’s not here, he’s there, period.”

“Fuck…what could have happened to him?” Wolf was just talking aloud…until Bruf walked in and answered his question.

“Boss, we have a big problem. One of the girls just took a call from a guy calling himself ‘Corporal Dan.’ He says he has Granite…and we can have him back, for a price.”

“Fuck.” Wolf ran his hands through his long hair. His head was beginning to pound. “What’s the price?”

“They didn’t say. They gave her a number and told her to have you call it at exactly five this evening and they’ll give you the details.”

“Son of a bitch.” Wolf stood up and said, “Let’s go.”

Manson was on his feet and Bruf was always ready. As they walked through the door Manson said, “Where are we going?”

“We’ll start at his apartment. By the time I call these sonsabitches, I want to know who and what I’m dealing with.”

#MyReview:

This has been a rollercoaster of emotions because each time a new book from this author appears on my Kindle I feel all sorts of things. From happiness to sadness, from curiosity to nervousness. Oh boy… And I wouldn’t change a thing.
As everyone already knows, I’m addicted to MC books and this author knows what she’s doing… Oh yes she does.
Jessie Cooke has been a constant in my reading life and her writing is not only addictive but also breathtaking. Jeez… What a ride.
Have you had the chance to read this series? The Southside Skulls? If you have you know the pleasure that was to read them but if you haven’t you really should. Doing so you will be able to read this book and understand everything since they aren’t standalones.
Chopper is her latest release and it’s the 11th book from this series. Dayum… What a series.
This book explores Chelsea and Chopper’s lifes.
Chelsea had the dream of becoming a famous artist but reality is totally different from what she wanted. Now she’s battling to live her life away from her addition and trying to forget her past but…
Chopper had almost lost his mind the day he almost run over a stunning woman. After that he just wants to find her again and do some wild things with her.
How can you live when your addition is stronger? How can you forget when your past is always lurking?
If I thought that the previous book was intense this one just nailed it.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. The interation between the characters is beautiful and despite all problems it’s amazing to be able to trust someone.
The struggles these two had to endure, more her than him almost broke my heart. Reading this book was like taking a ride in the most tumultuous rollercoaster of my life. Each feeling, each emotion was so raw that almost made me cry. It’s amazing the strength that the one who loves you can give. It’s amazing that when you thing that you’re alone your soulmate will come to your rescue.

Chelsea’s days generally started as a battle with herself. She didn’t want to get out of bed. She didn’t want to start a day over that she already knew would feel just like the one she lived the day before. She was doing all the things she’d promised herself, and her parents, and her sponsor, and her counselor, that she would do…but some days she had to wonder if it was all worth it. There was only one reason she continued to get up every day, though…so with a sigh, she pushed up out of bed and readied herself for another twelve hours of absolutely nothing new.

Chelsea had big plans for her life when she was a kid. By now she was supposed to be a famous artist, with showings in a gallery in New York or LA. While she waited for the shower to heat up, she made a mental list of things she had to be grateful for. It was a trick she’d learned in rehab. Some days it worked and some days it just made her want to kick her own Pollyanna ass. Today was one of those days. She was in a bad mood and happy she had the night off from her job at the diner. Four nights off, and she needed it. She was way too pissy to paste on a smile and brew coffee for Boston’s finest. Today she didn’t want to count her blessings. She wanted to feel sorry for herself and dwell on what she hadn’t accomplished instead of what she had. Hopefully one day of concentrating on that would get it out of her system…and the rest of the weekend could be all about having fun.

She stepped into the shower and tried to imagine the warm water washing the stress away. It was another trick her therapist taught her. Some days, though, there just wasn’t enough hot water to accomplish it. She closed her eyes while she washed her hair and tried to visualize her blessings…all listed out on a chart in front of her, resplendent with photos as well. She was alive…that one was always on top. It was a miracle she’d lived through her late teens and early twenties. She had done so many drugs over the years, taken so many pills, smoked whatever was handed to her, drunk whiskey by the bottle…the very fact that she was still breathing was enough to give her hope on her good days. On the bad ones, she still added it to the list, but she wondered if anyone was really any better off because of it.

Chelsea came from a good family. She’d graduated high school and started community college six years earlier. She had plans to go there for two years and then transfer to a university…hopefully in New York. Her parents were not rich, but they were helping as much as they could. She had a job in a diner and she was determined to save enough money so her move to New York wouldn’t be a hardship on anyone. She had everything mapped out…until the day she met Wayne and took a long and harrowing detour.

That night started with a party she hadn’t wanted to go to. It was there she first laid eyes on Wayne. He was a few years older and he was hotter than any guy she’d ever been with. He told her he worked as a mechanic and took her outside and showed her his Camaro. Every girl at the party wanted him…but to her delight, Wayne only seemed to have eyes for her. Chelsea fell hard and fast, and by the time she realized Wayne had a little problem holding down a job…a big problem with telling the truth…and a thirst for alcohol and sex that bordered on the insatiable, they were already living together.

Her parents didn’t approve, but Chelsea believed she loved him. She loved her parents, though, so she was determined to keep the peace. The stress of pretending to her parents that everything was okay, while she supported Wayne and his bad habits, and tried to carry a full load at school, quickly became overwhelming. By the end of her sophomore year in college, she was nowhere near ready to transfer to a university, and she had to take a summer school course to make up the classes she’d dropped mid-semester, because she had to work. That was when Wayne decided to “help” her. He had one of his friends hook her up with some pills that would keep her alert so she could stay awake while she worked and/or studied around the clock. Chelsea knew she could have said no, and she was way past blaming Wayne for all her problems, but she didn’t say no. She took the pills, and then she took more. She stayed up for days at a time, and then she took another pill to come down. She started skipping classes and skipping work. Her days became a blur of partying with Wayne and his friends during the day, and having wild, uninhibited sex at night. She was usually so wasted that she barely remembered it the next day. She knew Wayne was kinky and sometimes he let his friends watch, but as long as she wasn’t sober, she didn’t care.

As the months and then years went by, Chelsea’s dependence on the drugs and Wayne, who supplied them to her, became complete. She drove away her old friends and ultimately her parents who were devastated by what she’d become. But still, she couldn’t leave Wayne. She needed him, or so she thought. He kept a roof over their heads somehow, despite not having a regular job. He never hurt her and he always made sure she had what she needed to feel good. It wasn’t until one night of extreme partying that it suddenly hit her what she had become. She woke up feeling sick and pulled herself out of bed, naked and obviously well-used, and ran for the bathroom. While she was on her knees in front of the toilet, snippets of the night before started playing in her head like a home movie. She saw herself in the center of the room, surrounded by men…most of whom she didn’t know. Wayne had brought home some fucking awesome X that day, and she’d taken it…maybe more than one. She remembered dancing and taking off her clothes, and fucking. A lot of fucking, but as the spasms in her stomach started, and the sour alcohol left in her gut from the night before began to resurface, it dawned on her that all of that fucking hadn’t been with Wayne, and worse yet…it hadn’t been with only one man at a time.

She sat in front of the toilet that afternoon for hours, naked on the cold floor, shaking and sobbing, and hating who and what she had become. When she finally pulled herself together, she tried to talk to Wayne about maybe getting into a program and getting clean. She told him she wanted to go back to school and get a respectable job and maybe even have a kid someday. Wayne laughed at her. He told her that she had been worthless to him while she was going to school and working at the diner. In the heat of their argument, he let it slip just how much money he’d made off her over the past year. Chelsea had been supporting them all along; she just hadn’t known it. It made her sick, and her self-loathing was complete. Someone hearing her story might be thinking that her chapter with Wayne ended there. But drug addiction is a monster that grabs on and holds tight. It makes you forget about everything and everyone else, and Wayne knew how to control that monster.

Over the next year Wayne made sure he was in complete control. He was the only one there for her in Chelsea’s mind, the only one that hadn’t walked away. Chelsea might have gone on like that until she woke up dead, if not for the day Wayne dropped her off at the abortion clinic. That was the day she decided to take her life back. It was almost three years ago, and she was sober. She had a job at a coffee shop and she was drawing and painting again. She’d even sold a few of her drawings to the guy in the tattoo shop in town. He did most of the ink for the Southside Skulls. Some days she was proud of that, and other days she reminded herself that her “art” was being viewed by old ladies, club girls, and gang task force members…and on really bad days, the guys in the morgue. It was something, she supposed, but still a far cry from a gallery in New York.

She was sober, though, and despite being broke, depressed, and alone most of the time, she did have her parents back in her life. They’d been there for her during her recovery, every step of the way, and had gone above and beyond even after that. She had to keep in mind that things could always be so much worse. It was the only thing that kept her from sliding backwards and making the same mistakes that had almost cost her life.

When she got out of the shower, she debated starting a new project. She wanted to drive out to her parents’ house, but she was already expected for dinner the following day, so she didn’t want to overstep. She got out her sketchpad and her charcoals and set the easel up in front of the window. She’d worked the late shift the night before, so most of the day was already gone; the light of the late afternoon wasn’t great. She started to move the pole lamp over, but watching all the people walk by outside of her apartment building made her antsy. She rarely went out. What was there to do for a girl who didn’t have any friends, didn’t drink, and had given up sex along with the drugs and alcohol? But she couldn’t quell the feeling that she needed to get out, if for nothing else than to take a walk down to the harbor.

She pulled on a pair of ripped-up jeans and her leather jacket and boots, and without even checking her hair or make-up, she left the depressing little apartment. Some fresh air would probably do her mood good. She didn’t want to still be in a funk when she went to her parents’ house the next day. Her twice-a-week visits to the little ranch where she’d grown up were all she really had to look forward to lately.

Chelsea walked along Washington Avenue until she came to the aquarium. It was a Thursday night, but the city was still bustling with people, headed home from work or already on their way out for a night on the town. She walked next to them, in front of and behind them, but always alone. When she got to the harbor, she sat on one of the metal benches and looked out at the boats. She wondered if the people on them ever worried about the mundane things in life like she did. Did they have money problems? Did they ever wonder if they were good enough?

“Well, hello there, beautiful.” Chelsea, was startled at the sound of the voice, and looked up into the face of a man. He had dark hair that hung down low over his eyes and although he wasn’t a bad-looking man, there was something about him that instantly put her on edge.

“Hey,” she said, trying to return her attention to the boats and give him a hint that she wasn’t in the mood for conversation. When she saw him sit down next to her out of the corner of her eye, she knew that hadn’t worked.

“How’s your day going?”

Chelsea sighed. “I’m sorry. I’m not really looking for conversation.” She forced a smile at him and stood up. “You have a nice day, though.” She started walking away, glad that it wasn’t dark yet. She hadn’t gotten far when she heard hurried footsteps behind her. She turned and saw the man chasing after her. He smiled at her and that made him look even more sinister somehow.

“I’m not really looking for conversation either…Chelsea.”

She narrowed her eyes at him. She didn’t think she knew him, but there were a lot of things, and people, she didn’t remember from the years she’d spent in a drug-induced haze. “Do I know you?”

He licked his lips and then ran his eyes over her body and said, “That doesn’t matter, babe. I know you…”

Chelsea didn’t wait around for any more. She turned and started to run. The man called out after her, but she didn’t look back. She was gasping for breath as she dashed across the busy intersection and almost took a few people out on the sidewalk in front of the Harbor Hotel. She made it all the way to Charles Avenue before she dashed out into the street directly in front of a chopper. The guy driving it hit his brakes as she froze like a deer in the headlights. He stopped short of hitting her by only inches, and as soon as the bike came to a stop, Chelsea was on the run again. Now she had another guy yelling at her and chasing her down the street, only this one was quicker, or she was just tired from all the running. She felt a hand grab her by the shoulder and spin her around. She was face to face with the most incredible pair of brown eyes she’d ever looked into, but that didn’t matter, she didn’t want any man touching her.

“Let go of me!”

The guy did let go of her and he put his palms up in the air. That was when she noticed he was wearing a black leather Skulls vest. Fucking great! When would she learn to stay the fuck at home and out of trouble? “Whoa there, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You ran right out in front of me like the devil was chasing you.”

Chelsea suddenly remembered the other guy. He hadn’t been chasing her to make sure she was okay. She looked up the street, but although some people were staring at her and the biker, the creepy man wasn’t anywhere in sight. “I’m sorry,” she said, in a shaky voice, “I didn’t see you.”

“I figured that. Are you okay?” He turned and looked back where Chelsea’s eyes kept searching the people on the street for the man’s face. “Is someone chasing you?”

“No. I’m fine. Thank you.” She tried to turn away again, but the man put his hand on her shoulder once more. “Do you mind?”

He moved his hand again. He looked genuinely concerned for her well-being, but trust wasn’t something that came easily to her any longer. “Maybe I could give you a ride wherever it is you’re going,” he said. “It’s starting to get dark.”

“No. I’m fine,” she said again. This time the man smiled. He had a sexy little crooked grin and a dimple on one side of his mouth. That wasn’t all that was sexy about him, but she was trying hard not to notice. He was smoking hot. So hot, in fact, that her racing heart skipped a few beats and her pussy might have throbbed just a little before she remembered she’d sworn off men. But damn, this guy had messy brown hair that begged a woman to drag her fingers through it. He hadn’t shaved in a day or two, and the stubble gave him an edgy look. His t-shirt clung to his biceps and shoulders, and the black leather vest that announced to the world he was a part of a 1% MC should have turned her off, but it only made him that much more interesting. She almost shook her head, trying to get the image of her tongue tracing those full lips out of her mind. She cleared her throat and said, “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be rude. I should really get going before it does get dark.” This time when she turned away he didn’t try to stop her. Chelsea was shamefully disappointed by that, until she reminded herself that panty-melting hot was what had started the downward spiral of her life.

She had walked about block and a half, and was trying to figure out the best street to turn on and head back toward her apartment, when she heard the sound of the Harley. Looking out into the street she saw the guy in the Skulls vest, on his chopper, slowly following her. He was hot, but maybe he was just as creepy as the other guy. She turned into the first place with an open door, and found herself standing in the middle of a dank, dark pub. She chuckled to herself morosely and whispered, “Fuck my life.”
