Piece of Work

Romantic Comedy

I give this book 5 stars!

Don’t judge a book by its cover because you’ll get one big surprise…

Have a look at the blurb:

Marble isn’t the only thing that’s hard at this museum.

His body is as chiseled as Adonis. His lips are as sculpted as David. And his ego is the size of the Guggenheim.

You know the type—wolfish smile and the gravity of a black hole. The kind of man who sucks all the air from the room the second he enters it. My cocky boss thinks this internship was wasted on me, and he doesn’t hesitate to let me know.

But he’s wrong, and I’m going to prove it to him. If I can stay away from his devil lips, that is. Lips that cut me down and kiss me in the same breath, leaving me certain he’s on a mission to ruin my life.

And maybe my heart, too.

*A brand new STANDALONE romantic comedy full of steam, laughs, and heart by bestselling author Staci Hart*

#MyReview:

Seriously… With a cover like this how could I resist?? How??
Then I read the blurb and I was a goner. I needed to read it fast but it had to wait since I was reading another book but when I ended it… Let’s just say that I couldn’t start it fast enough.
Staci Hart has been a constant in my book life and I’m so glad for the chance to read her books.
Her writing is hot and sexy, free and wild, with so much feelings behind each chapter. Each book is special and intense at its own pace.
Piece of Work is her latest release and tells the stories of Rin and Court.
Rin is a sweet girl, super shy with a heart bigger than the world. She’s super clumsy and sometimes awkward but don’t let this fool you because she’s super talented and smart. When she is accepted as an intern in the European Paintings department in Met she can’t imagine the turn her life is about to get. Used to being invisible she almost couldn’t handle the transformation that her best friends did to her…
Court is a hunk of a man and he knows it. He’s cocky, a bit arrogant but behind all that hides someone that was severely hurt… because he’s used to see the worst in people. Being born with money can bring the worst in people.
Being the art curator he’s used to all that’s beautiful and delicate and he’s a bit of a douche..
These two hate each other so freaking much that it was hilarious to see this relationship evolve.
Can Court break his rule?? Can Rin stay this powerful lady all the time or will her awkwardness win?
This book is amazing. It has everything that I love about a good story.
The plot is amazing, very well written, super engaging and powerful. This book presented us with friendship, love, loyalty as well as angst, struggles and let’s not forget the got stuff.
There were parts of the story that I laughed so hard that I almost wet myself but there were others that I wanted to slap someone… Jeez…
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I can assure you that these two are stuck in my heart. I loved them so much.
Oh Staci… You are amazing. Each book is a breath of fresh air and this one just stole my heart. I’m even more in love with your writing and I can’t wait for more.

About the author:

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Gold Digger: A Whisky’s Novel by R.B. Hilliard

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Gold Digger

Romantic Comedy

I give this book 5 stars!

When you think that everything is lost you have to think again. Dreams are just that dreams, so you need to fight for what’s worth.

Have a look at the blurb:

Blake Moreno doesn’t do relationships, ever.
With more money than he knows what to do with and his pick of beautiful women, he has no plans of becoming tied down.

Hadley Jacobs doesn’t have time for dating.
With plans to finish culinary school and to own her own bakery, she has her life all mapped out.

Blake thinks Hadley is infuriating…

Hadley thinks Blake is controlling…

Both couldn’t be more wrong.

When life throws them a curve ball, they have no choice but to catch it and to prove that in the end, love wins. Every. Time.

#MyReview:

It’s been a while since I had the chance to read a book from this author and I really missed her. Each book made me feel things and see things in a different way and that to me is a bonus.
R. B. Hilliard is an amazing writer, with the gift of making me dream. Her writing is hot and sassy, full of meaning and feelings with so much to offer.
Gold Digger is her latest release, it’s the second book from the Whiskey series, and tells the stories of Hadley and Blake.
But I need to tell you something, despite all books are standalones I totally advise you to read Untterly Forgettable first because it will give you an insight of the characters.
Hadley is a shy girl focused on finishing culinary school and own her own bakery, so being in a relationship is not in the books for her. Despite being shy she knows what she wants and doesn’t back out from a challenge but things aren’t always easy.
Blake is an arse. He’s a hunk of a man and he knows it. He’s into one night stands because relationships is a waste of time. Why settle with one woman if he can get several?
Jesus… This book is amazing.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. The interation between the characters is raw and bumpy and super funny sometimes.
The story progressed smoothly and quickly with a few bumps on the road and each chapter just reinforce my love for these characters.
There were parts of the story that I wanted to slap someone Jesus… But there were others that almost melted my heart. And the hot stuff is there and will drive you crazy…
I’m so in love with this book that I really need to read book 1 first. I have a few answers to collect.
Jesus R.B. you nailed it. This book is so amazing that I didn’t wanted it to end. Please tell me that we will have more from these guys?

#MyReview:

This blurb had spiked my curiosity and when that happens I must read it. I can’t say no to a great blurb and if the book is from an author that I’ve heard good things about I have to read it.
Kelly Siskind is not a new author to me and I was freaking happy to get a new book. Her writting is simple yet powerful, hot and intense, with so much meaning between each chapter. You have to get her books…
Licks is her latest release and tells the stories of Gwen and August.
Since the day they met they become friends. They were teenagers but they formed a very tight bond.
Gwen knew that she was falling for him but she couldn’t jeopardize their friendship.
One night changed their lifes forever.
9 years had passed and now they meet again.
Can they be together? Can they resume their friendship? Can the mistakes from the past end their bond?
What can you do in 36h?
Oh boy… What a book… What a journey…
This book is amazing… The plot is intense, very well written, super engaging and stunning. The interation between the characters started in a way, then it turned, and then…
The story progressed in a way that made me devour this book in no time.
This book presented us with friendship, love, loyalty, desire as well as betrayal, pain, heartache and loneliness.
There were parts of the story that I saw myself living it and I wanted to get into it and hurt someone….
Kelly you rock woman… Amazing book… Intense… No words can make it’s justice. When will he have the next one? Because I’m eager for more…

Book Review: Wait With Me, Amy Daws

From Buzzfeed to Babble to Scary Mommy and even network television—the most antic

When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer’s block as she’s beginning the final installment of her international bestselling erotic Bed ‘n Breakfast series, she’ll do pretty much anything to get her groove back.
Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee—smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot.
She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees only entrance.
But she’s way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.
Doing a test-drive of her new book idea sounds like a much better option.

IMG-1601.PNG“Please,” she retorts with an eye roll. “I practically fainted in your arms. We couldn’t get more book-worthy if we tried.” She strides over and looks sheepishly up at me, the color already returning to her cheeks. I clasp her hand gently and pin her with a serious look. “Mercedes, there’s no need to be embarrassed. This is not the first time I’ve had a girl faint at the sight of me.” She barks out a laugh and yanks her hand out of mine to smack me in the stomach. “Just feed me before you start reciting any more cheesy romance novel lines.”

I’ve been anticipating this story since I began following the epic story of an author camping out in a tire shop because that’s where she was finding inspiration. Even better, her writing began to be inspired by her location! How cool would a story about a writer, writing romance be?

The story begins with Kate, aka Mercedes, hiding out in the customer care center of a tire shop. While enjoying complimentary coffee and cookies (and missing her chance at a Danish every. time.), she’s typing up a storm on her upcoming romance novel. When she bumps into one of the mechanics on her way out, not only does she drop her computer (gasp!), she notices a man with “book boyfriend arms.” This leads to introducing herself with her pen name, some mild flirting, and a now nagging fear of being caught spending too much time in their waiting space.

Fortunately, for “Mercedes,” Miles the mechanic turns out to be an entertaining addition to her writing routine. He’s easy on the eyes, funny, and actually a pretty good guy. Eventually she finds a use for him … not that! She picks his brain for book research—a male perspective. Turns out Miles is good at a lot of different things, and he is always super, super helpful. But, unfortunately for the situation, as great as things are right now, we all know that they are bound for trouble soon enough.

Will these two find their book worthy happily ever after?!

This story was hilarious! Full of witty banter, all the classic romance novel situations, and even some real feelings. I loved reading about a writer who is living a romance novel! It played just enough of the clichés that it made things humorous at every turn. I totally enjoyed this new perspective, and hope that Mercedes never stops writing!

viral sensationIt all began when Daws went to Tires Tires Tires to get a new set of wheels on her car. She was suffering from writer’s block, but apparently the complimentary coffee and cookies cured her. So she decided to bring in cars of friends and family so she could keep writing in the magical waiting room.

Her social media musings had her fans in stitches and it wasn’t long before inspiration struck again. This time…Daws was to write a sexy romantic comedy about a romance novelist who sneaks into a tire shop and gets caught by a hot mechanic. You can imagine where the love story goes from here.

Eventually, the little tire shop opened their arms to Daws, even putting her release date on their marquee sign outside.

It wasn’t long before Buzzfeed got wind of it. Then Scary Mommy. Then InspireMore and several other blogs with followers well into the millions. WGN News in Chicago, Fox 10 in Phoenix and Canada Public Radio are all talking about the adorable feel good story of how inspiration can strike in the strangest of places.

excerpt-reveal

She slaps her hand on her knee and bellows gallantly, “But you know what, Miles, you’re right! I should totally find a random hookup tonight.”
“Whoa, I never said anything about random.”
“Well, you’re doing it, so why can’t I?”
I narrow my eyes. “You don’t seem like the random type.”
“Maybe I should be.” Her eyes narrow when she leans in and whispers against my lips. “Can I tell you a secret, Miles?”
“You can tell me anything, Mercedes.”
She giggles and crooks her finger for me to lean in even closer. I’m so close I can smell the faint scent of her cherry lip gloss, and it’s not helping the half boner having a party in my pants.
Her lips graze my ear when she whispers, “My writing makes me horny.”
I nearly choke on my beer. “I’m sorry, what?”
“My writing makes me horny.” She pulls back and nods her confirmation. “I’m serious. I have a sex toy that works really well and really fast, but I miss the heat of a man, ya know?”
My eyes scrunch together, and I rub my fingers in the sockets to make sure I’m awake and hearing this all correctly. “I mean…I don’t really ever miss the heat of man, so I don’t think I know exactly what you’re saying.”
“Fine, the heat of a woman.” She rolls her eyes dramatically “You know what I’m talking about. The heat.”
I frown and shake my head. “You’re going to have to elaborate because I think of a lot of things when I think of women, but their body temperature isn’t one of them.”
“You asked for it.” She laughs and leans in so she’s speaking low and soft and directly into my ear. “The heat of a woman is so much more than temperature. It’s the soft, sensual curves of the female form. The way your fingers dig into the meat of her thighs when she’s wrapped around you. Her smooth, sunken tummy when she’s on her back, the delicate bumps of her ribcage when she’s throwing her head back in pleasure. Tight little nipples in pillows of creamy softness. The fact that you could fold yourself around her and envelop her body almost entirely and still want more. You’re saying you don’t miss that kind of heat?”
I blink slowly, recovering from what just happened. Her voice was a sensual, verbal caress straight on my cock. Then there was the warm heat of her breath on my ear. The deep husk of her tone. The way her warm palm rests softly on my thigh.
Fucking hell.

New Release: The Hook-Up Experiment, Emma Hart

1.Hate-screw my high school nemesis.

2.Remember to hate him.

3.Prove my brother wrong.

It should be easy.

It isn’t.

As the owner of Pick-A-Dick, New Orleans’ premier hook-up website, my job is simple. Connect two people for a no-strings, no-expectations hook-up. The plus for my clients is that I’m the one who gets to sift through the dick pics—except this time, they’re required.

My problem? My brother, co-owner of Pick-A-Dick’s sister dating site, doesn’t believe it’s possible to hook up with someone three times and not fall in love.

I disagree. I know it’s possible.

And my disagreement is exactly how I end up reconnected with my high school nemesis, Elliott Sloane. The guy who asked me to junior prom and then stood me up. Who egged my car when I rejected him, and convinced my senior homecoming date to ghost me.

It should be easy to hate-screw him. If only he was still that person, instead of a hot-as-hell single dad, working as a builder to make ends’ meet, fighting for custody of his daughter.

Not to mention packing in the pants department…

Three hook-ups.

One outcome.

“Is she okay with that juice?” Peyton watched her go.

I selected the Blu-ray from the cupboard and shot a smirk her way. “Sorry to break it to you, but you’re getting a juice box.”

“I can live with that.”

I turned away and hit the eject button on the player. “You didn’t have to say yes to her, you know.”

“Of course, I had to. Have you seen those eyes? How do you say no to her, ever?”

“I think of all the times she screams and swings her arms like a tiny terrorist, and it’s pretty easy.” I put the disk in and turned around.

Peyton had one eyebrow raised. “See, now, I’d think that’s reason to say no.”

“It depends on the day. Sometimes it results in her being put to bed to calm down, which means she ends up taking a rare afternoon nap, and I get some peace and quiet.”

“That’s a thing around her? She was talking to me for thirty minutes flat about what I did and didn’t like.”

“Only thirty minutes? Lucky you. She has about three hours of material of that.” I took a seat on the sofa, making sure to leave space between us for Bri. “Did she get started on hedgehogs yet?”

Peyton looked a little confused. “Hedgehogs?”

“YouTube is the devil.”

“That…was quite the jump in subject.”

I laughed as the main menu music hit on the TV. “I’m going to preface this by saying kids are weird.”

“Some get that from their parents.”

I blinked at her for a second. She wasn’t wrong if half these people who had a mini-career opening fucking toys on YouTube were parents.

“There are a bunch of stupid videos on YouTube, and apparently, watching people open toys is thrilling.”

Now, she looked really confused.

“And on one of those she watched, the person had a pet hedgehog who wasn’t having the nonsense of her opening a Hatchimal on camera, so it stole the egg.”

She blinked several times in quick succession. “I have no idea what you just said, and if I’m honest… Please don’t explain it.”

I laughed and hit play on the TV.

“Here’s your dooce-box,” Briony said, handing Peyton two. “And das mine. I can’t do the straws.”

“Oh. Right. Okay.” Peyton looked at the two juices that had been thrust at her.

Smiling, I took one from her. I pulled the straw off the back, out of the tiny plastic slip, and poked it through the foiled hole in the top. “There you go,” I said to Briony. “What do you want for dinner?”

She put the straw in her mouth and pursed her lips as she sucked the juice up. Peyton watched her, lips twitching, as she put her straw in place.

“Pizza!” Briony announced.

Oh no. I’d eaten too much pizza lately.

Was there such a thing as too much pizza?

Maybe if the toppings were changed up…

“Peydon, do you want pizza?” Bri asked, leaning right into her.

“I like pizza,” she replied, smiling sweetly down at her. “What’s your favorite?”

“I like spots and cheese.”

“Spots?”

I coughed on my water. “Pepperoni,” I explained. “They look like spots on the pizza.”

Peyton’s eyes met mine for a minute. Silent laughter shone back at me. That really was toddler logic at its finest.

“You know,” she said, looking down at Peyton. “Spots are my favorite, too!”

Once again, Briony gasped. “Reawy?”

“Really, really. I love spots.”

Oh, Jesus.

It might have been a mistake introducing these two. Not only was my daughter becoming increasingly obsessed with someone who seemed to be a brunette, adult version of her…

No, that was the problem. Peyton was the brunette, adult version of Briony, attitude and all—and if there was anything my daughter didn’t need, it was someone who could teach her a thing or ten about sarcasm.

“I’ll order pizza,” I said, going to stand.

“Oh, you got it last time. I’ll go call them.” Peyton put her juice on the side table and tried to move, but Briony stopped her.

“No. Mimi told me that only gentlemen buy dinner. Princesses sit and look priddy.”

Peyton looked down at her. “Sit and look pretty? I like to buy my own pizza sometimes, and that’s okay.”

Without missing a beat, Briony said, “Princesses sit and look priddy so the mens buying dinner don’t know dat we can kick dere butts.”

“You run your own business. You own your house. You own your car. You’re strong and independent. You don’t allow anyone to take advantage of you. You’re headstrong and determined. You’re ambitious, and you don’t settle for anything less than the best. But, you’re also compassionate and supportive, and you would drop anything to help the people you love.” Jake held out his hands. “You’re a pain in my fucking ass, but you’re one hell of a woman, Peyton Austin. That little girl would  be lucky to have you as her role model.”

This book was definitely so much more than I anticipated. I was introduced to Peyton in The Upside to Being Single, and she was a character that seemed to just LIVE every moment. She was beyond loyal to her friends, but I wasn’t sure exactly how much I would be able to connect with a girl as confident at Peyton. Even beginning this story, I was a bit disconnected because never in my life have I had 1/4 of the confidence that Peyton carries with her on a daily basis. But not too long after the story began, I met Mimi (her grandmother), and I fell in love. Knowing how she acted when she was around her grandmother and seeing how her grandmother treated her, I knew there was a deeper part to Peyton.

When Elliot was introduced, I thought it would be easy to hate him (seeing as he’d done Peyton wrong, of course!), but it surprisingly wasn’t. There was a lot about him, even initially, that kept me interested and made him seem like such a genuine person. As the story progressed, I totally fell in love with him. And his daughter — oh. my. gosh. I ADORE her! I think one of my favorite things about Emma is her ability to write some of the best kiddos out there!

Overall, this book made me laugh, and it made me swoon. I love stories that can be a little silly, but still bring out the depth in their characters and make you feel a bit of realness in them. I totally loved reading this one and will be IMPATIENTLY waiting for Chloe’s story!

#MyReview:

It’s been a while since I had wanted to read a book from this author but my TBR is huge and I can’t keep up. When I got an opening I just started this new book in a flash and Dayum…
Carmen Jenner has a simple writing, full of meaning, with a touch of craziness and so much more.
Cake is her latest release and tells Poppy and Leo story.
Poppy is a wedding planer and she loves her job. She’s currently planing one and this could be just another job but it isn’t. She’s currently planing her ex best friend with her ex boyfriend’s wedding… Hard right? I don’t know if I could but she is doing it. And the worst part was that she was invited to be a maid of honor… What the hell…
Leo is a womanizer, he’s imature and a pain in the arse. His favorite hobby is to tease Poppy in every chance he got. Let’s just say that I almost slapped him.
And the rest is history…
Sweet Jesus, this book is amazing.
The plot is refreshing, super engaging, funny and spicy…
The interation between the characters can be funny as well as frustrating. Jeez there were parts of the story that I wanted to slap someone…
The prologue left me wanting more and after that I just read non stop.
Carmen you’re a genius. This book was that I needed and didn’t know… It was a break from the darkness that I was surrounded.
For the lovers if Rom-Com this is your book. Grab your copy and dig in.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Legs (One Wild Wish, #1) by Kelly Siskind

A Bookworm Review by Ana

Legs

Romantic Comedy

I give this book 5 stars!

A one night stand is supposed to be just that but when he/she crosses you path again what should you do? Run for the hills?

Have a look at the blurb:

Running into your one-night stand is a special kind of awkward. Competing against him in a wine tasting contest is delicious torment…

On Rachel’s twenty-seventh birthday, she wishes to finally find a rewarding job. What she doesn’t wish is to drink a boatload of wine, sleep with a tattooed bad boy, and drunk email her boss in one glorious, career-ending move. But the fiasco pushes her to pursue a career inspired by her late father’s love of wine: sommelier.

Unfortunately, she’s competing against her infuriating one-night stand, a man as intoxicating as a Pinot Noir.

Two years ago, Jimmy was set to inherit his family winery. Then it got ripped from his grasp. To close that dark chapter of his life, he plans to win a local sommelier contest and use the press to expose his family’s tainted wines.

Jimmy loves studying the streaks of alcohol that cling to a wineglass, known as the wine’s “legs,” but other shapely legs are stealing his focus. Tantalizing legs. Legs that had wrapped around his waist for one wild night. Jimmy, sadly, has a weakness for legs.

He also hates to lose.

LEGS is a full-length, standalone Smart, Sexy Romantic Comedy with a swoony Happily Ever After. No cheating or cliff-hangers here! Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Avery Flynn, Alice Clayton, Emma Chase, and Lauren Blakely.

#MyReview:

Yep I think I’m almost insane, almost…
I have been thinking how I got so involved with this book wold and I just can’t come up with an explanation nor do I want it… Ah ah ah. I love this world and can’t get enough of it.
Another new author and I’m so glad I took the time to read her book.
Kelly Siskind’s writing is sassy, hot and intense as hell.
Legs is her latest release and what a name is this?? Jesus… What a cover…
This book explores the lifes of Rachel and Jimmy.
Rachel made a wish that she would find the job of her dreams and be happy with it. But after drinking way to much not only does she ends her career but also gets involved with a bad boy. But this was just the push she needed to open her own winery and becoming a well known Sommelier.
Jimmy was set up to take charge of his family winery but he had other plans that made him change his mind. After that, he planned to win a local sommelier contest but he wasn’t expecting his opponent to be his one night stand.
And know that all cats are out of the bag what will happen??
This book not only was sexy as hell but also super funny. I can assure you that I know a little bit more about wines that I knew before reading it. Lol.
The plot is amazing and hot and the interaction between the characters was so funny and intense.
I’m amazed by the way the story progressed and let’s just say that I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t do it but I didn’t wanted it to end so soon. Why???
I loved every word, every chapter and the hot scenes are to die for.
I’m amazed by everything.
Jesus Kelly if your other books are like this one you need to sign me up to read them. Oh boy… I need a cold shower. And now I need to know when will we get the other books from this series ready??
